Yeah, it certainly looked like they were using manual controls. Why are all the people playing in these videos absolutely gash, though? It's like no-one can ever make a backwards pass and keep possession, every ball has to be a forward pass.

I'd like to see a video where two people are playing decent possession football.

Yeah they are all awful at the game, always rushing it as if there's only 2 mins left and they desperately need a goal all match. Personally I would be embarrassed to have videos of me playing the game uploaded if I was that gash :-pp.

The game isn't shown in it's full quality when you get two people playing it like that, it's not how it's meant to be played at all.

The ball physics look brilliant this year - more bounce and less floaty :)).

IMO it's a real testament to the quality of the game that a video of the two worst gamers in modern history playing the game is still watchable. I mean seriously, those two are just fucking horrendous at the game.

Shows like this should handout Q&A's before they allow just anyone to get their hands on their precious builds of the game and stick a camera in front of it.

Well he says it's hidden away in the advance options, maybe they just put some stuff in there that they feel is complicated and distracting for the average 12 year old. They probably envisage too many 12 year olds whining on the official forums that the game is too fast/too slow after they accidentally changed the game speed..........

I know last yr it was on like semi pro or something which to me just feels way to easy and you can't really test the AI out and enjoy it as much.. It would be nice to have maybe 2 difficulty levels like semi pro and then world class or legendary..

I know those guys were on manual, but boy do they make the game look like shit. They really should have started on auto, maybe semi. It was like watching the 7 year old division I used to referee, cause they could not string two passes together on manual. Animations look great though. Cant way to play it.

Keepers look improved, even when they make a mistake they look far more reactive to correct it:))

The refereeing was shit, so let's hope it's not consistently that bad. I actually felt that, although the guy playing as France was obviously poor, the bloke controlling Spain seemed to string a few decent passes together.

My biggest fear. In manager mode almost every game is played in this stadium, because almost every team has it set as their default stadium. I really hope they sorted this nonsense out and we can change what a teams home stadium is. I mean to play 30 out of a 38 game season in one stadium is ridiculous. This as well as the night game lighting effects are a slight worry. Because the game play looks awesome

Can't say that numbering/fonts bother me, they don't actually use/license all the numbers/fonts because there's too many of them, they just have a certain number of them that they spread amongst the teams, I guess the concern is that if a few teams have the correct numbers/fonts then every team will demand and expect them which will massively increase the workload.

IMO you should be grateful your stadium is in the game and your goalkeeper has a proper kit, most of us don't get that.

thts what EA SPORTS FOOTBALL League is meant to be about

it will either be using real football players online with a team of 10 (9 other players) in ranked games with the goal to be ranked no.1 in player ratings and as a team on the ea sports football league leaderboard

or using your created player with the same goals but with better performances been able to increase your stats.

you don't have to have 10 people you could have a 2v2 but then you would depend on cpu players for whatever position you didn't pick... or 2v10...

aslong as you have other members from your (squad upto 49 people) then you can play a match :)


be a pro always has a few 100 people on it and I am sure EA Sports League would have even more due to the fact it is competitive!

It will work imo. just gotta organise a time where most of us are online and bamm sorted. any late commers will just have to sit it out. for example if ALL fifa fans was to join in one massive evo web team i can guarantee you that it will be piss easy to get 10 of us on to play our evo web game.

I'm confident that it will work properly, 5v5 wasn't too bad in 08 apart from not being able to kick people who didnt press ready, people pausing the game a lot/quitting when they are losing, the slightly worse responses and lag. Oh and having all of the opposition go invisible for the match occasionally :LOL:.

Just a bit of tweaking and improving and it should be fine, and this is EA after all, a company whose online servers are usually pretty good and now a company which makes quite a lot improvements to their game each year (take note Konami... lazy fuckers).

Too many crap things in the game to put in a post.

5v5 is not as glitchy as it used to be, but i agree the servers royally fuck up alot more than they every should

so 10v10 will add more problems to this unless they change something

as for having enough players for 10v10, i play with lads everynight and there is enough of us to fill two rooms easily, and this is on a game that is nearly 12 months old

when a new game comes out like fifa 09, everyone will be playing it so filling rooms and getting decent people to play with wont be a problem, what will or what could be a problem is the servers

i just hope they can cope and are improved from this years

I could imagine being a defender aswell, My natural position seems to be a DMF, I'm comfortable there for some reason. Nothing like hanging back during attacks and linking passes from one side the other, and taking potshots every now and again.

CB is probably the only position I wouldn't want to play. I find the game is too heavily tilted against CBs in 5v5. I find defending the back line is only fun if you're the only person on your team to go as ANY, so you can control the whole back 4, giving you the control you need to defend properly.

Every other position works fine, but I like it best out on the left wing.

When I had my 360 and used to play 5v5 with you guys, there were always people who played defence (and were pretty good too ... apart from Kev) so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

If you can use they guy you have played 5 seasons of be a pro offline, and he keeps his boosted stats, then its gonna be a lot of strikers. When you see people set up teams like this you know fifa is doing something right! This is the future of online football games for sure, and the mentality will hopefully be that players want to do their "job" on the pich to help the team(you know..like in real life) And not have so much of everybody charging up in attack wanting to score them self just like when you were 5 years old and I mean everybody was running for the ball wanting to score(Benny hill anyone:LOL:). I can play as a CM or CAM, even DMF, pretty good at passing and long shooting even with full manual controls, I must say.

I don't like dribbling very much, but that's because I'm a product of Barcelona youngsters, and there you would pass the ball quickly instead of dribbling, that's how they taught us to play the game and the reason why barcelona produces again and again this kind of player: Guardiola, Xavi, Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas, Arteta, De la Peña...

Oh, and we don't need no Physio, we're tougher than those girly 360ers.

Wait a minute, this brings to mind a possible problem. Will all players/bench included have their own corresponding assigned numbers by the CPU, or will we be able to select a number for our player that hasn't been taken yet?

Reason I ask is because I don't want to see 2 or 3 players with the same numbers running around. I hope the CPU will give you numbers that are available and free to use for online only.

I for one want number 9 or 12 for PS3 version, and 17, or 11 for Xbox360 version.

Getting 10v10 people together regularly I would thought highly unlikely, but there's slightly more chance with 7v7.

I still reckon 2v2 (with all 4 as ANY) will be the best fun.

We could always partner up and rotate between ourselves so a CM would swap with a CB and the wingers with the LB/RB if needed. Sure you don't get as much practise in 1 position but it's all fun.

What i noticed, and see if anyone else saw, was that it appears to be a lot less on "rails" as we say it. I watch the passes go astray, and the guy suppose to be receiving it appears to make his own path to the ball, and is not stuck in a single animation. I hope its true. I cant wait to play it.

Not sure if you've already mentioned this but did you get any sense of different players having a different feel? It's a complaint regularly and legitimately aimed at FIFA that there's little difference in feel between Ronaldo and Rochdale's CB. Any improvements in 09?

The vids don't appear to show much, but you don't get the "feel" from vids. Also, the vids look like every player still controls the ball perfectly first time and they all knock it exactly the same distance in front of themselves when running with it, and are all perfect passers (except on manual passing, of course).

Gotta agree that from a distance, it does look like real football, so much better than PES09, which looks like PES always has.

On a side note, I noticed some official French Ligue 1 numbers on the back of the players shirt in that first video. I could not quite make out the player name, but it leaves me hopeful that the shirt fonts/numbers situation has been improved. All the French Ligue 1 teams use the same font like the Premier League.

The build I played was earlier than the Leipzig one and I can already see improvements in the new videos such as response times and the game also looking sharpy in all area's. It was a big improvement from 08 for me in the build, When certain players had the ball etc or passed it you could sense a difference there with stats making a difference, it wasnt on PES level but its something which has been improved and they might have touched it up for the Leipzig builds aswell.

It's going to be like Football Manager - concede a goal, move the defence/attack slider up and create more space, score a goal, move it back and get your defenders lining up inside the box... Experimenting with the new improved player arrows sweetkilla described (e.g. get your DMs covering the space your wing-backs leave behind)... And on top of all that, I love the idea of switching the game on the day after Match of the Day is on and playing with updated stats online.

It's just so exciting.

Exactly, I cant wait to open a "FIFA Custom Formations" thread when the game hits so we can post the right settings for each team to play the way they do in real life and also discussing ways to improve it with others. Will be like the PES editing days :)) The more i see that "Adidas Season" thing the more i think il probably end up getting it.
