Just had proper snow!

Exhibition game with Stuttgart, chose day game (i think) but its well dark, and snowing, looks cool.

So wherever Stuttgart play in this enables snow sometimes

it is random if it happens though. but it does happen. ball flies up when you try to control and everything.

Sometimes there is snow at the stadium "Ivy Lane" as well, it just annoys me and makes me play worse though, it used to on PES as well.

I had snow last night in my BAP game. I was Inter (Quaresma) playing against Napoli, I believe I was the away team. Xbox360 version, hope it helps.

I have noticed more people are using dream teams in unranked matches which is pretty annoying.

also I just played one guy who had a pleayer shown the red card but he remained on the pitch. Is it a bug or is there some kind of cheat to stop the sending off. He got shown it after advantage had been played.

Yup! I am in my second year with Aston Villa. He won't be back until after the season ends and was injured in December.

I also had another MM going with Leverkusen and had 3 of my top players all out at the same time. They were for 2-3 weeks each, but it made for a rough go of it. This was also in the second year.

Or are you simulating matches? Thats what I did at the end with 08, wanted to win the CL but wasnt bothered about the league matches and Gerrard was out for 3-4 months. So far Ive had a few "couple weeks" injuries, game 20 of 2nd season with Liverpool.

To be honest, I think my fatigue was quite high. It was during one of those stretches where I had Carling Cup, League and Uefa Cup matches all lumped in together.

Have a look at what Las Palmas fitness level is. I've started a MM with them and I can barely play my players two games in a row :(

haha. placebo,i'm sure i didn't press it. all i do is controlling my player to head away the ball,but as i saw my goalkeeper moving on the ball lane,i thought he would catch it, instead,he just looking at it like a retard,while cisse head the ball while smiling. shit shit shit. and that's how i lost my FA cup 3rd round. on world class and legendary, sunderland is even more harder than Arsenal or Chelsea. it's just so fucking hard even i play myself at home,but the defender ALWAYS get their feet right on the ball,ALWAYS.

finally just about mastered palying this game on complete manual..i was struggling with the judging the angles but the secret i have found is adjust the power first and then the direction second. You can make some superb reverse passes into space and it opens the game up no end. And the crosses you can do are unbeliveable. You can bend them right onto the far post..The shooting is still hard but managed to score twice in 4 games on world class..Saying that though i can manage about 80-85% of shots on target now. Before was about 10% if lucky :) It is definatley more rewarding on manual

The mistake i was making was if i wanted to shoot say top corner i would start to run that way and shoot whilst facing that way and it would just baloon well wide..So no i take my sprint off, try to get the body postion right, press power about half for a high shot and then the direction..seem to go on target..What i love about manual mode is you see more vriety of shots too as the passes/crosses sometimes go behind the players so the pull off some excellent voleys

Played a few MM games last night, playing on World Class with Las Palmas. I forgot how good the game is :D

I need to increase the half length though. I'm currently on 5 min halves and both myself and the opposition are averaging 4 shots a game, mostly scraps in the middle of the pitch.

It seems like level 4 makes your players really tired whereas as 5 seems to have a good balance. I've just decided not to touch any of the upgrades at all. The fitness thing especially, but the players progress REALLY fast as well and it makes the game kind of boring to me.

i hope if they do another patch that they fix the match creation where you can only select manual or assisted opponents. There really needs to be a semi option. I play on semi (shooting, passing, corners) but i played this guy last night, i lost 2-0 but he was fully assisted. It was more like pinball than football. Couldnt believe how angry it made me. I just thought whats the point. No skill involved playing fully assisted and i think EA should do away with it entirely, Manaul is too difficult for me but im going to give it another try. Despite boiling up i still let this infant finish the game. I hate quitters even more than pinball merchants.

It seems like some of you are getting confused here, there are two separate updates...

There is a fifa09 patch available on the 360. Mine updated last night but I couldn't see any difference in the gameplay tbh.

There is also the new dashboard update for the 360 that is available today, that allows you to install fifa09 (and all other games) to your hard drive. This will improve loading times, stop the dvd spinning all the time during gameplay and hopefully improve performance as the xbox can access the hard drive faster than it can the dvd.

Nope, the games sometimes force data to be saved on the HDD but you can't install the whole game onto the HDD.

it is tempting :) We do get a bad rap and there are some bad drivers at my garage but for the most part we are a nice bunch. Its a very difficult job, especially in London.

Going semi controls the game feels bland and not much different then 08 in terms of passing, crossing, etc. The collison physics are awesome, the animations are great the first 30 games, but then you get used to it and dont notice it. the moves are impossible and never fucking work. Most of the goals i score are one on ones with the keeper, and those are usually off of a ridiculous turnover. On manual the game is fucking hard. I dont know how the hell you guys manual pass, it is so hard. The weather thing in MM is starting to get to me now as well. When i play on manual in MM, i cant get shit going. The main gripe i have is still the response times. The computer AI dont have the same response times, you can sprint to them and they can wait till the last possible second to pass the ball, if you do that, you get stuffed. The jostle button is cool, but hard to use sometimes. Headers are hard as shit, i can barely ever win any. im starting to dislike this game. I do like playing 2 v 2, right now that is the only mode im liking...

I play professional with semi passing and everything else on manual and I'm enjoying the game a lot. I don't play more than 3 or 4 matches per week on single player, though.

In multiplayer (offline and online) is where I get the most of it, and play twice a week and even with the crabwalking it's a great game, so I'm waiting for the patch!

Totally agreed. That's the main thing I would like to be revamped for the next installment. And I really hope that misplacing tackles and pression generates a good amount of fouls and cards, so that you have to judge well when and who you're tackling.

Yeah I'm sorta with you. Think online is the only way to go. The latest thing I've noticed in MM is that whenever the comp 'needs a win' they just implement that everytime they tackle your player, he stumbles or falls, and everytime you tackle theirs, it doesn't affect them. So even though the tackle has 'real' physics and the ball squirts out randomly, your player is stuck in stumbling animation while the CPU can happily go collect the ball.

Oh and shooting is definitely scripted/influenced. There are definitely games when I know i won't score unless I'm 1 on 1 with an empty net, and even then I may hit the post or crossbar magically.

I agree with most of what you say here. The game IS better this year, but the modes are all the same offline. There is NOTHING new with MM this year. I haven't even made it through 2 full seasons with a team yet because I am so bored.

I decided to play BAPS and started with Juve as my own created player. I am literally bored as shit watching the game play around me and having no control over how shitty the players around me are playing. I finished a full season as a striker and nothing changed even though I scored boatloads of goals. The weather changes were nice though...

I think I am exchanging this game now. I haven' done that since Winning Eleven 7 days.

Whenever any of my mates and I try to do a online club with 3 or more people, the game never connects. Then when we went into do 2 v 2 private match be a pro online, it kicks my boy out. it was doing this a few weeks back with my brother and it still does it to him. But we can play COD fine together. THIS SUCKS. This fifa is overated. 2 v 2 local is its last saving grace. I even played jflrores in some 1 v 1 games last night. and quite honestly it really wasnt as fun when we used to play PRO evo 2007 on 360. If your a 4 star or below team, the pace is good, but your players touches suck so you cant get many scoring chances. Then if you play with 5 start teams, the pace is way too fast and it turns into a sprint fucking fest. The only goals being scored are mistakes and turnovers by your defenders. This game needs alot of work for FIFA10

I'm thinking (but I could be wrong) that the pre-update update (if that makes sense) is something to do with the "glitch" people have been complaining about, where if you try to skip a replay by pressing the pass button like a madman your player (usually the goalkeeper) will do a piss-weak pass straight to one of the opposition players.

I say this because I've just played a couple of games and three times I pressed to kick the ball, the bar above my goalkeeper's head filled up, but nothing happened and I had to press the button again. Frustrating actually, because I'm not one of these guys who hammers the button and then cries "glitch" when the game tries to interpret what you're doing.

In other news, just how smooth is it now when you've installed it to your hard drive on the 360? Great stuff, it loads so much quicker, and there's a better framerate in a few of the stadia. All of the games had better response times as well but I'm putting that down to my router having a good day today, I don't think the install would affect that.

Agreed my friend. Online just isn't as fun as PES6 once was on the 360. They still need to sort the player responsiveness. I remember how much fun you and I had playing PES6 online a few years back. Why can FIFA get there :-(

seems that with their tweaks to fix the crab walking they also fixed some dumb plays by the gks...

i played 5 games, feels so much better now i cant evan describe!

I just noticed that players you create when playing BAPS stays in the original teams. I usually start in the same team every new BAPS and I just noticed that I had two more of myself running around on the pitch. Seems like you can just go to transfers and transfer everyone to free agents without braking the BAPS though.

i had a bad night online last night. 3 times i lost connection during games. Plus 2 game crashes, and 1 time during a 10v10 the screen went black and all i could see was the cursors moving about the screen, then it froze and the ps3 reset itself. Thats when i called it a day. I normally have a solid connection so i wonder if it was patch connected? anyone else have trouble.
But the patch has improved the gameplay. No crabwalk is great. Didnt think the 8 player update had worked as it still says you can only control 4 teams but it will let you select 8. Well done EA. Now please work on the next patch. I want to see semi control to be available on match search. Played too many pinball lovers last night and its so frustrating. One had the cheek to send me a message berating me after beating me 4-1. He was pinging the ball around and then just using Martins to sprint through my slow defence. Its when i play idiots like this that i just want to turn the game off. But its the rare time when i find a like minded player like me who plays proper footie that keeps me saying to myself "just one more game".

You should still be able to put your HDD onto a friend's unbanned 360 and download the update that way, then take the HDD home and your Fifa will now have the latest update :) Doing this won't in any way harm your friend's status as it's consoles that get banned, not xbox live accounts.

Create yourself a uk account, go to store, update the game, it should update the game for your other accounts.

If you already have an account and the problem is the game not "finding" the update, you can always erase the game's data in the hdd and begin from start to see if then the game finds the patch.

I've had a bit of a renaissance with this game the last few days. I'm not sure whether its the patch or just the way I changed my approach to playing it. Basically I've given up on Manager Mode for this year, its totally rubbish and a waste of time. Instead I'm just playing through several tournaments. I've got a Premier League, SPL, FA Cup and a World Cup going. Its rather nice to actually have weather :) I even had snow in my World Cup qualifier before...lovely.

Secondly I've reduced all of my match times to 5 minute halves instead of 10 minutes. My score lines have become far more realistic, no more constant 4-2, 5-1, 6-2 etc. And I've also decided that I'm only playing with decent teams from now on. My time in League 2 Manager Mode was just crushing, your players are always just rubbish and you can never pull off the moves that you want. (I realize this is realistic and fair enough, but EA need to find a way to make lower leagues a little more fun next year.)

Now I'm thinking about whether or not I will get this new commentary pack, if its just the Euro 2008 one copied and pasted into FIFA then I don't think so...anyone have the English one?

had some idiot send me an abusive message when our connection was lost during a game. I was losing so of course he/she automatically asumed that i quit and thought it necessary to call me a F this and f that. Class! it turns out it was my connection that failed but it was not intentional. I replied to this stating what happened and i actually got an apology but too little too late. Its frustrating when ppl quit but i hope ppl just think twice about slagging ppl off coz its not always someone quitting.

Can someone check something for me please? Preferably on 360 as that's the platform I'm playing on. I think there's a big bug in the new patch.

I spent 30 minutes setting up an 08-09 Champions League custom tournament to play with dad against the CPU, both of us on the same side.
When it came to the first game, shortly after the referee blew the whistle to start the match, the 360 froze.

Loaded the save again, tried again, put both of us across to the same side, referee blows his whistle to start the match, 360 froze.

Tried a default tournament rather than a custom one, Aston Villa in the FA Cup, put both of us across to the same side, referee blows his whistle to start the match, 360 froze.

Can someone please connect two 360 pads up (no need to sign in a profile with the second pad), go into FIFA, go into a tournament (any of the default ones will do) and pick any side, put both pads onto that side and then try to get past the kick-off of the first match?

Guys I need some help so please, please help me. I am really terrible at this game, I don't know why honestly. I don't want to blame the game, and say it sucks because it doesn't. It's very fun to play, but I am seriously losing interest because I'm getting my ass raped on Professional level. I'm getting a little better but I need a few tips or some advice how to play better. All my life I've been playing PES/WE and was really really good so this is all new for me. I need the help with the following:

Wireless Controller set up (PS3)

- Passing (Semi-Assist, Manual or Assisted) I tried to use Manual and it's extremely hard to make plays, and get accurate passes to my team mates, almost impossible.

- Shooting ( Again, I'm not sure what to put here ) Right now I use MANUAL, but man it's very hard to score, as many of my shots are off target. It feels a lot rewarding scoring a goal like this but it's hard to find the target on manual. Should I leave it on manual and practice more or what ?

And the other two:

- Through pass (I also have this on MANUAL)

And the last one I think is LOB pass or something - this is also on MANUAL...

now the most important question of all is the QUICK TACTICS...WHICH I have hard time understanding.

During a game, if I press a dpad I will have these arrows so for example: ^ for counter attack < for possession > for team pressure, do I have to use these every time I am in the possession or how do you use these.

For instance, I only play manual everything with a friend, and only occasional. Most of the times we have passing on SEMI because going full manual is bloody hard.

About the tactics, I think it's really well explained in the game itself. Go to advanced tactics and for each slider you'll see an example of the effect it will make on your team (the formation has an animation explainign what your team will do in you current value). Change the values to see how things change and simply experiment. It's great, the best addition to the game in my opinion, it makes the game deeper than ever!

Adding to the raised difficulty theory I mentioned earlier, I now definitely think that they have adjusted how offensively the AI play against you. AI now retains possession much more effectively and pass much better also, and playing more offensively in general. There's been a side effect to this "offensive adjustment", though, as I've noticed that once I get a early goal and set my settings to counter, I'd win by unrealistic margins that I couldn't win by before. I've already had four or five 6-0, 7-0 wins so far this season where the opposition just falls apart after conceding an early goal and going all out offense (this is on World Class with all semi or manual). I don't think I've magically become better at this game during that short span either, so I definitely think it's something with the patch where they've made the AI a little too offensive. I think I'll have to play some games without the hard drive attached (therefore, without the patch) to confirm if these things are true.

Stumpy i feel your pain. Pinball at 100mph. I tend to set tactic slide bar to defend then custom tactics i slide the bar to the left on defence pressure so the back line stays deep. This takes away the space for the Henry's to run into behind your defence. Only problem with this is that you sacrifice attacking prowess. Feel free to add me for a game or two as i like to knock the ball around and play the game its meant to be played. (PS3)

Do you play with d-pad or analog? Ive gone back to d-pad (could never fully get to grips with analog) but have had to go pretty much assisted throughout as longballs, passes, etc just aren't accurate enough with the d-pad. However the upturn is that it makes it very PES-esque to control. For some horrible but I like it. Means I can focus on my teams movement and tactics as opposed to focusing on passing to a teammate :D

As for tips; don't run too much, only when clean through or on the wing. Ive also noticed you really need to watch out for the momentum of your own player but even moreso the opposition player. Im now pretty good at dribbling past defenders. I look which direction they are running in, slow down - use the modifyer for extra sharp close control to turn the opposite way to what the cpu is running - and then tap the sprint to get away from him. Ive even managed to get between two defenders from the wing cutting inside this way, all fully in control and meaning to do it. A somewhat CRonaldo esque move which was great to do. I would use the modifyer as much as possible, I use it all the time, keeps the ball closer when recieving a pass, makes the turns sharper. Just makes it that bit easier to keep possesion when in close quarters. And don't be looking to attack all the time, often it's better to pass the ball back to keep possesion and work another angle or to draw their players out a bit more to create some more final 3rd space for the attackers. Get to know your team, I play as Liverpool and any time Gerrard has some space around the area I shoot, whereas if Im controling Masch I'll look for the pass instead. For the top teams it makes quite a difference which player you control and what you can do with him.

Ive also noticed the increased difficulty since the patch, havent noticed the easier 1-goal up countering though. They seem to be stronger at keeping possesion and can put some real pressure on you now. Playing on WC. Before the patch I could comfortably keep possesion but now they push up more and pressure leading me to lose possesion quicker. I like it.

I'm so old skool........I got used to it for 08 and found it fine in the end, but now with the faster reaction times I noticed that I prefer the d-pad for the sharper movements. However it does come at a price as your passing range is very limited. Its a bit of a pain for longball passes as the assisted setting is a bit crap.

What i do is use manual thru pass ALOT, especially for quick passes between players close togetehr and especially at ANGLES. normal passing is tough with angles so i usually do those only horizontally or vertically on the pitch. The game really is great once you learn how to manually pass. My next mission is to learn how to manual cross. Here are my settings

I'm glad you're enjoying it and have got more used to manual passing, only do you see the full greatness of this game when you go manual :).

I'd just say though, if you can use manual passing then you should be able to use manual long passes too, they are very good for playing defence-splitting passes. Semi crossing isn't that hard either and leads to more variety and gives you a bit more control.

That has been my main gripe when I have been attempting to go full manual, the damn angles which is way too precise (especially on 360). Whether it is manual shooting or manual passing, the game is a little too unforgiving when it comes to aiming in diagonal angles on manual. This is why I find semi setting perfect, as it is more forgiving in that respect (and you can still screw up in semi if you are mindless about it). But the game has become slightly too easy on semi also, so I'm thinking of giving it more time on manual and try to master it. I'll try using through pass more on angles, thanks for the tip.

Semi or manual crossing I find easy, that tip earlier about making a quarter circle motion towards your target really makes the difference.

With proper defense and proper personnel, the cross -> headers are easy enough to prevent. The problem with defending headers on World Class and above is that it depends so much on the players' height, strength, balance and headers stats, and the tendency for the AI to find the matchup that is favourable to them, like matching up their tall forwards with your smallest wingbacks in the box. Back when I was still using Neville and Evra as wingbacks the AI would ALWAYS expose them since they were small and of low strength, and they'd NEVER win aerial balls. After I acquired Chimbonda and Riise (who aren't exactly top class wingbacks but bigger, stronger ones adept in the air) they scored a lot less on headers. So my best advice on the personnel front would be to get the strongest, tallest wingbacks that you can. And of course the centerbacks too, but they should already be strong/tall enough.

Also, are you defending it properly in regards to the control scheme? When you defend the crosses from the wings, make sure you running jockey them to close off the space as much as possible, preventing the cross in the first place. When they do get a cross in, you need to be tapping the clearance button AS SOON AS THE BALL LEAVES THEIR FEET. Any later and AI will beat you to the header every time. Timing is very precise, so play around with it a bit, you'll eventually find it. This is for headers anywhere in the field; start tapping the button as soon as the ball leaves their feet, whether its a long ball up the field, cross, or whatever. After that, it will all come down to how the height and strength/header stats match up... the one with the higher stat in those categories will win almost 95% of the balls.

I almost never allow header goals by the AI anymore. With my tall, strong defensive line and the control method above, my defenders always beat them to the cross or at least challenge them enough so that the header goes harmlessly high/wide or into the keeper.

What I do, let's say I'm going from left to right, is to have the stick pointing to the right as I'm charging the cross bar. As the bar is charging, I'd do a quick quarter circle to up then keep it held at up until the cross is released. This makes a nice, curvy cross which can evade the defenders better and give you a better chance at putting the header onto the net, provided that the power is right. On semi it is slightly more consistent as it is designed to be guided into the back or front post, but it works well enough on manual too I find.

well,what i mean is their early crosses are too perfect. my last game in few minutes ago is against Newcastle. Gutierrez cross the ball and Owen out of nowhere,head the ball even I've put Micah Richards to man mark him tightly. i even jostle towards the ball,and i do think i time the header well,but he still,can head the ball and match the strength of Richards,easily like he is mark Viduka or Carew. this is so not real. :(

That actually sounds pretty realistic though. In 08/Euro pretty much every cross went to the right player. Scored pretty much every time, very unrealistic. I think crosses in 09 are awesome, I play manual and even the computer misses crosses and headers most of the time. Realistic to me.

Hi Lads. I am wanting to play games online against others and am having problems even after the update. BAP online works fine, but when I want to play 1 v 1 against others I very rarely get a game. I'll explain. When I invite a friend, we get to the screen where you choose teams and we cannot choose. It just sticks and we have to end the session. Is there a fix to this as it really is a pain.

I play with manual passing and crossing, I have through ball on assisted and shooting. But I only use through ball for the difficult angle passes, not for actual through balls because once you get good with manual passing you dont need a through ball as manual passing into space is much more effective.

On another note, I played FIFA 09 PS3 today, the first time i've played it since the patch, and I have to say that the game is much improved without the crab-walking and it seems as good as the 360 version now.

I don't know if it's just me, but long range shots seem to have a bit more venom on them on the PS3 version, maybe we were just lucky that a goals from distance went in, there were two we uploaded (shooting on semi, both in the same match):

Played this against the CPU with TT tonight, I'd forgotten how good the game was. I've made a Champions League with all the real groups and teams (where possible, obviously there's a few missing in the game so I've chosen a few random teams e.g. Rosenborg).

We played 15 games in total before stopping for Match of the Day and every game was different, from losing 4-1 to drawing 0-0 to winning 4-0. We haven't made it out of the group stages yet but we've saved it now at a point where we've got 6pts out of 9pts available. Itching to get back on it.

Atletico Madrid beat us on both occasions first time round, they were a nightmare - pass pass pass and they had an opportunity, it was like playing the elite bastards online. Then we played them twice again and drew one lost one. Finally we played them once, just before we saved it, and after fiddling with the defensive line a bit we hammered them 4-0. Next game we kept with it and narrowly squeezed past PSV 2-1, before losing to Marseille 2-0 (both goals coming in the last five minutes, one of them due to his love of bringing the goalkeeper out).

The AI on professional has definitely had a bit of a tweak in the latest patch, it seems a lot more varied than before.

The only thing that really annoys me about the game (apart from not being able to restrict people to picking a 3/4 star team online instead of having to play Man Utd every game) is that it seems impossible to score from a cross and/or a header. On manual crossing they go anywhere, on semi they get headed away time and time again and on assisted (I was desperate) they literally go to the totally wrong man nine times out of ten, which proves (as far as I'm concerned) that the logic is definitely a bit off - it doesn't understand which guy is in the better position to head the ball.

Which is again proved by the fact that I've repeatedly moved a player into a great position to head towards the far post and as soon as the ball is crossed in the CPU switches players for you and starts moving your original player away from the opportunity.

thats very odd - crossing and heading is the easiest part of this game for sure. If on semi crossing, when you get into the 'crossing zone', press cross and let go of all direction. Give it a fair bit of power too. Will go EXACTLY to one of your players in the box. When it comes to him, dont press header until it is literally on his head, and ull score every time.

I agree with the angles being extremely sensitive when shooting/crossing is on manual. But I've found it really depends on who you're working with. I can get Joe Cole to curl a beautiful cross in 90% of the time. It's getting someone in the box to get on the end of it that proves to be the challenge. Switch that over to the other side with Malouda dumping in the crosses and the accuracy is far less.

As for shooting, even on semi it proves to be a challenge. I've just now gotten to the point where I can place a shot, but that doesn't mean it's successful every time.

The biggest gripe I have is when it comes to Cup and Tournament games in Manager Mode. Seems that EA thinks every game needs to result in an upset and a 3-star team will play like a 5-star team no matter what just because it's a cup game. And this is just on Professional level. I appreciate upping the ante on these types of games and know that these types of games can result in upsets in the real world, but it's a bit over the top this year. You practically know you're going to lose if you're playing an ECC game. The same problem existed last year and I really hope it's something they look at in '10.

Wtf. Just played some guy online, he chose some norwegian team against my Hammarby, so I thought, oh, a decent guy for once. But then, in the second half, still 0-0, he paused the game. Nothing wrong with that. But - when the game was back on, his right winger was invisible! I thought it was a bug..until he paused two more times and two more players became invisible!

Also, he very rarely passed anyone else than the invisible players. What kind of bullshit is this? I almost managed to get the game to penalties simply by hacking down his invisible players, but he scored on a rebound in the 115th minute. How the fuck is this possible?

This game is terrible online when playing 99% of randoms.

Most people choose a team with a couple of fast strikers - these people also have everything on assisted. So basically it is a pass to the strikers they run as fast as they can past your old man defence, that has no chance of catching him up. Then 9 times out of ten it is a goal with assisted shooting when one on one.

Really - it makes the game unplayable. So much so I have seen alot of people choosing Aston Villa, because they have so much pace. Carew for some reason has super speed aswell.

Forget playing Man U aswell - because most people stick Ronaldo up front and jsut bomb around with him and score.

Really is it so hard to have a setting where you can play people on just Manual/Semi???!!!!!!!!!!!! It would make a huge difference to the game. Also being able to choose a maximum star rating for both teams. If the implemented this then it would be fantastic. Two things that would be so simple.

The best games I have had is from people on here that I know use Semi/manual settings and we play mediocre teams. It is fantastic and is the best game. But those matches are few and far between unfortunately.

I was playing a game today where I was on Semi/Manual and the other guy was on all assisted obviously. He was 4-0 up at half time. Just by hoofing it to Kanoute/Fabiano and running past my defence and then scoring every one on one with his assisted shooting.

So at half time I just put my shooting on assisted and within 10mins of the restart I had got two goals!!! It is just too easy and is no fun to play.

Even on Unranked games I am getting people choosing Man U all the time and Villa. I would at least hope for people on Unranked not to be hungry for the win and play shitty!!!

I have reached breaking point. I will only play in leagues if they are all Semi/manual aswell - thats how bad it is.

It is just to ridiculously easy to score with assisted shooting and is not realistic to me. It is wierd because before I started playing on Semi/manual I didn't mind obviously - but now I just can't go back to assisted.

Also, I love playing Semi/Manual and playing against assisted players just leaves you at a severe disadvantage.

Its a shame aswell as I loved playing online. I never really played single player on the last Fifa or this, but I will get used to it. I played a couple today and it was good fun. So I might start a Manager game.

They were actually quite fun matches but you know that the following day the knobheads will be out in force trying to find all the exploits, and assisted everything is an exploit EA is happy to provide to everyone. It's worth noting that the default settings are assisted everything IIRC, and I'm the only gamer I know who goes through all of the options menus before actually playing the game, so I would bet a ton of non-serious gamers (bear in mind that's most of the audience) have no idea you can even change it, much less want to.

They're not catering for the serious guys like us, they're catering for the cheats and the kids - which is the best marketing strategy, and it is all about money after all. We all buy the game and we can play eachother on semi/manual settings, so we're not going to take it back to the shops when that possibility is there; and all of the 13-year-old achievement whores will be happy sticking everything on assisted and playing fast-forward magnetic football (I know at least three friends of my nephew who play the game having absolutely no idea of the rules of football or even who the players are, just to get the achievements and try the whole quit-and-get-the-win thing to boost their ranking).

Dad still plays rankers every day, he got beat 10-0 yesterday morning and believe it or not he only brought the keeper out twice. I sat and watched, they literally press pass twice and it's with Ronaldo, who outruns every player on the pitch and scores. Ten times. He's gone from playing about ten a day to two a day, even he is getting fed up of it now, and he doesn't have any other games.

I will only ever play a ranked game in FIFA (or PES for that matter) when they let you set a star limit for the match. Playing as two Championship teams (or even two poor Premier League teams) would change everything. As I found out playing an Interactive League match and beating someone playing as West Brom who tried to use the same tactics as all the Man Utd players - I beat him 2-0.

It just drives me crazy that they implemented the looking for people using manual or Assisted, but didn't add Semi into it?!!!!!

All they need to do is put in a Semi/Manual together and a Assisted seperately.

Hey danhammer , that happens to me with a specific friend. And it happens a lot of times. And the reason is the shitty online of PS3. Someone told my friend that the reason of the log-outs where that psn network is not properly ready for high-bandwith connections (i.e. 20 MBs).

That kindof connections seem to have more variable ping reponse time, does being prone to have a very slow ping now and then which causes disconnection. Rumours of people downgrading its connection to 8 mbs and instantly having no problems have arised.

Now, I don't know if it's true, but I can play my other friends (who have no 20 mb connection) without this problem. Go figure. That only speaks badly of sony's online, and me and my friends are quite sure about changing to xbox on next generation, simply because of the online quality.

I can't score on a header to save my life - my crosses go directly to the other team every single time.

thats very odd - crossing and heading is the easiest part of this game for sure. If on semi crossing, when you get into the 'crossing zone', press cross and let go of all direction. Give it a fair bit of power too. Will go EXACTLY to one of your players in the box. When it comes to him, dont press header until it is literally on his head, and ull score every time.

nope but playing fps games on manual is piss easy to learn. infact, witha good mouse with high res its even easier then auto aim. well for me anyway ;)

Also its very difficult in playing manual on a footy game using a joypad. not only do u have to place the pass/shot properly, u also have to take note of the power of the shot/pass too!

in fps its just placing the crosshair properly and its dead easy on a keyboard/mouse.

o and btw, the Halo games and cod games on the console has some form of auto aim assist in it ;)

so, its impossible to not use the assistance using the 8 direction scheme.

i have lots of fun with this game though...i did play 08 mostly manual, when i had a 360..but i must say im having a lot more fun this year, maybe its because i finnaly managed to "convert" some of my m8s on fifa.

Thats offcourse only because of this "PES way" we are playing fifa(all assist, d-pad, PS controler and offcourse PES button scheme)

This game is terrible online when playing 99% of randoms.

Most people choose a team with a couple of fast strikers - these people also have everything on assisted. So basically it is a pass to the strikers they run as fast as they can past your old man defence, that has no chance of catching him up. Then 9 times out of ten it is a goal with assisted shooting when one on one.

Really - it makes the game unplayable. So much so I have seen alot of people choosing Aston Villa, because they have so much pace. Carew for some reason has super speed aswell.

Forget playing Man U aswell - because most people stick Ronaldo up front and jsut bomb around with him and score.

Really is it so hard to have a setting where you can play people on just Manual/Semi???!!!!!!!!!!!! It would make a huge difference to the game. Also being able to choose a maximum star rating for both teams. If the implemented this then it would be fantastic. Two things that would be so simple.

The best games I have had is from people on here that I know use Semi/manual settings and we play mediocre teams. It is fantastic and is the best game. But those matches are few and far between unfortunately.

I was playing a game today where I was on Semi/Manual and the other guy was on all assisted obviously. He was 4-0 up at half time. Just by hoofing it to Kanoute/Fabiano and running past my defence and then scoring every one on one with his assisted shooting.

So at half time I just put my shooting on assisted and within 10mins of the restart I had got two goals!!! It is just too easy and is no fun to play.

Even on Unranked games I am getting people choosing Man U all the time and Villa. I would at least hope for people on Unranked not to be hungry for the win and play shitty!!!

Really Really pissed off and disapointed!!!!

I have noticed that Villa seem to be a a popular team to be. your right though people just knock the ball to fast striker and run forwards. I only play unranked games and still find plenty of players using assisted passing and shooting.

I have actually sent people messages at half time saying turn off the assists but I get no reply. :)

Played one idiot yesterday who thought it would be a good idea to play no offsides or bookings. All he did was leave van persie goal hanging and hoof a long ball.

100% agree with BobbyBox about playing Randoms online. Ive had a fair few bad experiences with playing Randoms especially with Lag.

So the passes, shots and movement are 16 directions when playing with the analog? I much rather use the dpad but I don't like playing on assisted.

for us, its just like playing PES with alot better gfx, animatons, physics and atmosphere....
really feels like a next gen PES to sum it up :)
also i like the idea of assisted cause i like my shoots and passes to be more determined by my players stats than my own skill, thats just how we aways played.

well that doesnt appeal to most people mate. manual is shit on a control pad. like i said, i tried it for 3 weeks straight and just diddnt have fun playing with manual. i couldnt pass for shit or shoot as well. absolute rubbish.

if you dont like people playing auto THEN DONT PLAY AGAINTS THEM. simple!!! their is a bloody option to force both players to play on manual for peets sakes.

i bet that most people in the x360 evo web league play on assist. learn how to deal with it mate and stop moaning about assist this and assist that. its not as if people who play on assist are forcing you to bloody play on assist too! its not cheating if thats what u think!

take forza and GT5P. people dont complain when people drive with aids on. infact, most of the manual drivers who play with no assist beat the people who play on assist.

The day i see a fifa game have just manual controls is the day me and MANY other users will stop playing fifa. its just NOT fun on manual in most peoples opinions.

in a nutshell, stop moaning and crying about people who play on assist, go play on assist so its an "even" game or go practise more on manual so it is like your playing on assist

No Jonney I have FIFA on the 360 mate. I had some issues with the PS3 version when I had it. 1 It looked rougher round the edges compared to the 360 version, 2 it seemed to have more slowdown which affected the gameplay a bit too much for my liking and 3 I tried to play it online, Lag + Slowdown = an awful experience. Played it on the 360 with some guys from here and silky smooth is the word I would use :)

Also I do partially agree with you on the comparison to FORZA and GT5.FIFA wouldnt be too much fun if everything was on manual and you spent most of your time trying to recover from mis placed passes all the time. However a HardCore Footy Sim player would love that ;)

well I rarely find one, and therefore I pointed to a thread where you can fill your friendlist with other people that want to play on manual
nothing wrong here, is it?

of course most of the people in leagues and in ranked games play with all assists, because they give you an advantage over your opponent

about your comparision of forza and gt5p: the situation there is completely contrary, because you get faster when turning of the assists
in FIFA the disadvantges because of more error potential are a lot higher than the advantages of more freedom in your play when trying to play competitive against a good player with all assists

I am not saying it is not possible to win with manual against assisted, because I did it, and it's very rewarding, but try to play consistently agains all assisted ManU players and tell me it's more fun

I wonder how you would know most peoples opinion, but even if they don't like manual, I don't like to compare myself to Top 100 ranked players with 1000+ games, ManU vs. Barcelona on all assists

I think most of them use assisted because it gives them a higher chance of winning
I use manual/semi because I care about enjoying the gameplay

but i think u must consider that some people like myself, want a diferent experience from the game...
like ive said here before, i want to see stats influencing my game as much as possible... thats SIM for me... if i want something thats all relied on my ability, i go out and play real football. thats why i love manager games so much, and why i loved PES so much too, i can make the same exact shoot with ronaldinho and hyypia for instance, but the outcome will be completely diferent becasue of their stats. and i think with manual or evan semi controls this diference is mostly evaned down, cause it all comes down to your skill, thats not what i play football games for.
bear in mind i dont play online for the same reasosn most here dont, i try to keep my game free from the manuuuu online twats. my multiplayer exeperience is 100% offline with my mates, its great...we feel like the old days playing PES.

This is the thing - it doesn't force people to be on Manual. It just looks for others on manual. Which you can never find, because most people have a mix of semi and manual if they do not use assisted.

So It is impossible to find a random to play - this is where the frustration is. If they just put in an option to find people that used just Manual and Semi together - then I would have no problem at all.

The way they have it now - you are forced to play with whoever comes up and 99% of the time they are on all assisted and choose the top teams.
