I pretty sure you will have no problem with DLC. Having a PAL version will not stop you downloading adidas live season.

Also online in FIFA is worldwide. Having a PAL version will let you play with anyone in the world.. I have Asian version of FIFA 08 but live in the UK. I can still play with anyone so there will be no problems.

Some people prefer component over VGA, but I think VGA generally looks nicer and better. A lot sharper.

Only gripe I have so far is that you cannot edit player's appearances - oh and why do all goalkeepers have shitty kits!??!

Playing Manager Mode with Galatasaray.

It's soooo brilliant! The crowd sounds are awesome and everything is just original! Won my first game 2-0 against Trabzonspor. It was 1-0 for me in the 88 minut. Corner for Trabzonspor the keeper in my 16 and all the defenders. I shooted the ball forward to Nonda and he sprinted 60 meters and scored! haha really fantastic!

Tip for stadium choose: Stadio Classico!

I've got a Philips 7403D 42". I must say I'm pretty dissapointed with the picture quality... Looks a lot nicer on my mates TV.

Go into display settings on your 360 and select an HD resolution. If you haven't done that, you're just watching a standard definition picture. Set the resolution as high as your TV will allow and as I said, if your cable has a switch on the connector, make sure it's set to HD mode.

I don't get it. For every one step forward EA takes an inexplicable 10 steps back in all of their games. Just random little stuff that you wouldn't even think would be removed from year to year.

But once again to anyone who has the game and has played the 10 v 10 online portion.

Does anyone know if it is at all possible in the REGULAR 10 v 10 (not the club thing) to limit the number of people that can play on your team. Say you only wanna lock it at 5 users instead of allowing all 10 to be user-controlled.

Also, can you designate an ANY if you are the host? So that this season instead of 2 people choosing ANY when you only want the captain to, 5 people don't choose it now.

Lastly, can you boot people that sit in the center and mess around if you're the host. I've been asking these questions for awhile now and nobody has ever discussed it or asked it in the Q & A's or the hands-on previews. Now that people have the game can anyone tell me this?

Hmmm I don't mind that TBH, it would be nice to get a short check list from your scout or transfer guy telling you what the player is like, say he's aggressive or tends to hug the touchlines or weak in the air etc,

Yes that seems to be the case... that's really poor. I thought ordering from Game would get me the game faster. But apparently Fifa is released tomorrow here in Sweden :((

I am a bit confused - do you mean that there are no ratings for the player... like how accurate their shot is, how fast they are or how good their heading skills are?

He means traits as in; injuryprone, lazy bastard, diver, etc. Not the actual player qualities like passing/shooting/power/etc.

Tried 10v10 for the first time tonight. Random matches is something similiar to kindergarden football. Half of the team chases the ball, some try to keep formation, and 1-2 is making sure they always are in offside position. Not suprised, as this was something I expected, but Im more concerned about the lag. Played 3 matches, and they all lagged. I really, really hope this has something to do with the fact that xbox live was kind of unstable before these matches. If that kind of lag will be normal in 10v10, it can easily kill the mode.

2) Can you limit your team to a certain number of user-controlled players. If you don't want all 10 be user-controlled, can you, if you're the host, set it to 6 people on your team only. Or make only YOUR team private or something.

3) Can you boot people out of the room if you're the host.

Really I just want a rundown of the 10 v 10 BAP mode as NOBODY has talked about it at all. I don't get the game for another 2 weeks and I know a good number of Aussies have it now. Surely enough to get some of these 10 v 10 matches going.

I would answer you if I could. But I havent hosted yet, so I dont know what options you have as host. I guess the info on 10v10 will starting flowing tomorrow

Edit: Got kind of curious myself, so I booted up fifa again. Started a new 10v10 session. From what I can see, the options when creating a session is similiar to those for 5v5. Didnt see any extra options in the game lobby either, so you shouldnt get your hopes up. I would think there is a better chance that the options you request is available in fifa clubs.

Sorry but he's wrong, you can move to different clubs, there's just no hiring and firing unfortunately, at the end of the season it asks if you want to stay in your current job, if you say no you then can choose a new team to manage.

It all happens at the start of the new season though, the same as offering you a new deal, I was never sacked either so I don't know if you get the boot before there and then mid season or just no new offer?

Ah I see it's pretty much the same as 08 when you join a club they say what they expect you to do, ie finish in top 3 etc. Then at the end of the season they offer you a new contract, they only last for 1 year and you can only manage a maximum of 15 seasons...

You don't have to sign with them and you can get sacked too apparently though this has never happened to me even if you don't achieve what they ask they have always asked if I want to re sign and I have always said yes...:SS

Well having played this all evening (PS3 version) my initial thoughts are :-

Wow - this really is the most impressive attempt at football i have ever seen in a video game.

Played a few games against the com - very good - initial feeling is that there is a real ebb and flow to the game. Was playing as Chelsea against Arsenal on World class. Some games i was totally dominating (although rarely scoring) and others i was outplayed but in every match both teams had chances and it felt very natural.

Then moved on to a couple of unranked online games - won the first 3-2 in a match that again flowed very well and felt quite different. Can't rem what teams we were but felt quite different to games against the com - not sure how much that was to do with it being against another person and how much was to do with being different teams.

Delighted to see that the option now exists for a rematch - choose quit to the arena and then you get the choice for a rematch - used it to play the same guy twice in a row - lost both 1-0 and thoroughly enjoyed both matches - very tight and could have gone either way - honest!!

Then played 1 10 v 10 match. It started as 10 v 10 although 1 guy left mid way through the 2nd half but it was totally lag free. Amazing - much of it was a bit school playground like with everyone chasing the ball. We were Spain playing against France and clearly a few guys were trying to maintain position etc - glad to say that worked well and we won 5-2 in a 20 min match.

Then played 2 ranked matches - won 1 lost one. Was very surprised to see the rematch option in for ranked matches too - guess we are going to see some serious cheating on the leaderboards but then i guess it was always that way.

Overall i am pretty much blown away by how well this plays. Will flaws show the more you play? Of course. Will that put me off it? Doubt it. Will i be laying this until this time next year? I certainly think so.:DD:DD:DD

Any specific questions i'll try and answer but i guess the wait is pretty much over for all of us now. Enjoy.

Just played two BAP matches with a serie B team (well their reserves) and in both matches players from the other team and also my team just take the ball and run around with it for over 20 in game minutes without passing the ball. I had to get out of position several times to get closer to the ball and press the pass button for my players to stop do this. It even happened when I was winning 2-0 and one cpu player (other team) just walked around with the ball until the game was over. This never happened to me in Euro's CYC. I play on world class so there should be decent AI, this is like the annoying thing in 08 when they run around in circles and you can't take the ball... ugh, if this is in every game I can't see myself play this mode at all. The AI in CYC was so amazing and the first impression of this is just shit.

And the +/- ratings in game are still bad. If a winger cross balls that an attacker just miss you get minus. Even if it is a good cross. You should only get minus if you miss your team mate by much or hit it out the field. So playing as a REAL winger is useless once again.

Gonna try MM tomorrow, hopefully it leaves better impressions. I mean the game is good, the gameplay, but it's just so much annoyances around it.

- can you please start an overcast match at any stadium in exhibition mode and confirm that despite rain/snow appearing in the cutscenes, replays, and free kicks, its not there during play.

I have one word for this game .. Amazing.

You can play fluid football and the animations looks so natural. I can also confirm that the shooting feels different in the full version. Sometimes it feels like the balls heavier. The ball can get air under it, and sometimes it have some dive to it. Its very random. Played 6 ranked matches online. Won 5 and lost 1.

The first game I played I won 2 - 1 with Fiorentina against Barcelona. I could easily break up he's attacking because of the new collision system. It feels so awesome playing the ball around with 1 - 2 passes, and see him chase the ball like a crazy monkey. And then put that deadly through ball, and finish it off with a finesse shot in the bottom corner. :applaud:

The second game, the guy I played choose Chelsea and then I picked United. Just for fun. I won 7 - 2. He couldn't do anything. I just ended up conceeding those 2 goals because the miss'es just kept on yapping about clothes .. :SS

But overall. I like the online more than the MM. Nothing new to MM as already stated, and that is very dissapointing. But overall the AI is a pretty good challenge and plays great football. Sometimes they make some stupid mistakes, that could have happened in the little leagues.

You can play fluid football and the animations looks so natural. I can also confirm that the shooting feels different in the full version. Sometimes it feels like the balls heavier. The ball can get air under it, and sometimes it have some dive to it. Its very random.

- in managermode you still are not able to see the real league table. every team has one more game than you

- AND no english commentery in the german version

Shame because if played right, it can be beautiful and amazing. People holding position, passing (even passing back), using the entire field as oppose to all running to the corner to get the ball, and having fun being dm's, rb's, etc. Could be awesome. Unfortunately there are idiots who believe football is all about running at 3 defenders, doing a rainbow flick and scoring. This mode will test my patience. I think the key will be to pay attention to players and send friend requests (360) to those who play well and unselfishly and then build your own team.

what really very annoying in FIFA 09 while playing online is
- advantage system ( its so bad EA must Fix it with a patch )
- the referee so stupid ( i played a lot of Online ranked match when i got the ball in good running situation try to score of what every the other team player slide tackle me from behind and the referee just give me a foul with out booking and sometime dont even give me foul EA fix this )

Just played two BAP matches with a serie B team (well their reserves) and in both matches players from the other team and also my team just take the ball and run around with it for over 20 in game minutes without passing the ball. I had to get out of position several times to get closer to the ball and press the pass button for my players to stop do this. It even happened when I was winning 2-0 and one cpu player (other team) just walked around with the ball until the game was over. This never happened to me in Euro's CYC. I play on world class so there should be decent AI, this is like the annoying thing in 08 when they run around in circles and you can't take the ball... ugh, if this is in every game I can't see myself play this mode at all. The AI in CYC was so amazing and the first impression of this is just shit.


I have also noticed that AI players runs around with the ball, and refuses to pass it. I also noticed that its the generated players that do this, so I only saw it in reserves matches. I commented earlier about how extremly random these generated players are, I really dont think they put a lot of work into that part of the game.

pboreham: You only hear your own team though, maybe you hear the others when the play gets stopped like when a goal is scored. And I think it can be pretty OK in the club mode. I've played some NHL 09 in their online clubs and every match is pretty good, people never quit because that just give their team minus points so people stick to it even if they lose 0-10. But just random 10 vs 10 will never work, it was the same with 5 vs 5 really.

Sounds fucking awful. 5v5 was a great step forward but had huge issues regards the multitude of ways that arseholes could ruin the experience. It would have been very easy to sew up all these holes and make it a much better mode, but it sounds like all they've done is push it up to 10v10 arseholes, no new options at all, but extra lag because there's now 20 online.

I've now played 5 games on normal speed and 5 on slow and normal seems to be the most realistic pace to me. Slow is easier as it gives you more time on the ball but after playing a few matches at the default setting first, the lower setting now seems unrealistically slow at times to me

Tried 10v10 for the first time tonight. Random matches is something similiar to kindergarden football. Half of the team chases the ball, some try to keep formation, and 1-2 is making sure they always are in offside position.

God I can't wait to bump into a team like that - imagine the space on the pitch to tackle them, boot it across the pitch and run down with 4 against the keeper. 10 - 0 games against idiots - lovely stuff!

Anyone else other than me irritated that they've not attempted to change the basics of the game like the menus? It kinda slaps you in the face that this is just last years game with tweaks when you see that and get a big deja vu moment as you unpause and hear 08's commentary kick in repeating the same old shit again.

I played a few 6v5 last night, we never quite got to the 10v10, and for me it was smooth. no real noticable lag.

Finally headed to my kip around 1ish as I had to get up for work.

Had a round 5 online 1v1 games, one was laggy, but that may have been due to a bad connection or just the fact that Live seemed to be slow last night too.

I think if you get teams of 10 folk that you know, e.g. from here then the experience will be great.

This is just a brilliant game. The Live Season makes it even better.

Started my first match on Legendary difficulty, as Newcastle against Sunderland (as you do), with the Live Season in effect. So yeah, a lot of players have gone down in skill for both sides, especially the defences.

Went 1-0 down, then pulled it back at start of second half. Only for them to take the lead, but don't worry, I got a second equaliser. Only for them to score again against this awful defence, Taylor is useless in the air, whereas Colo isn't. And now I've just got a third equaliser, meaning in these last 30 minutes it's all for the taking.

Started my first match on Legendary difficulty, as Newcastle against Sunderland (as you do), with the Live Season in effect. So yeah, a lot of players have gone down in skill for both sides, especially the defences.

Went 1-0 down, then pulled it back at start of second half. Only for them to take the lead, but don't worry, I got a second equaliser. Only for them to score again against this awful defence, Taylor is useless in the air, whereas Colo isn't. And now I've just got a third equaliser, meaning in these last 30 minutes it's all for the taking.

Feels a bit sluggish still (but MUCH better than FIFA and even Euro), but some big plusses for me, include that the players feel more like individuals (even lower league) and they LOOK more like individuals.

Ball is really floaty on shots, but I do appreciate the whole balance, ball speed, wind etc - so maybe I just need to take more care.

Just had a good game online - my Villa v Bayern Munich. Lost 1-0 but was a good game. My long ball game came to nought though.

One of the big problems I have is heading still. The animation is stupid - like something from Crouching Tiger! :LOL: and hence, when you connect, it doesnt feel 'meaty' enough.

Apart from a few gripes though, I am trying to like it. I still think the SP MM mode will ruin it for me and make me sell it, but until then, I'll enjoy some online with you guys.

Manual through balls is so slow to power up enough to hit hard... I have no idea why they changed this. You hardly ever have to hit a very short through ball so there is no point at all to make it this weak. Really don't want to use semi on it...

This is worrying for me as what I loved about FIFA 08 was that you really had to work for goals.

Maybe try using custom tactics to shorten the distance between your defenders and goalkeepers? This might counter the quick forward players.

I got both my copies about 30 mins ago from ShopTo and Game :DD

Played Liverpool v Everton and it was a great game. I definately had the bug where a player is running onto a through-ball and stops, then runs again.

Everton went ahead just before half-time and completely shut up shop. Packed their defence out and whenever they got the ball, just hoofed it up :LOL:

I think if it were possible to edit your back 4 so they stay deeper, then this would help.

Love it :DD shooting seems improved from demo but not until i looked more into it i have discovered things. All depends on players shooting accuracy stats in this game are so much more noticeable then previous game which is great.

Its pretty much like demo which i enjoyed alot so much better then PES it need to come a long way for me to touch this experience. :))

Well then you run the risk of it being sprung with a cleverly timed through ball. Playing the offside trap against the worlds quickest forwards (like the afforementioned Ronaldo and Torres) is suicide in real life.

I'm blown away by the game so far. Only played a couple of games so far but it really is as good as people have been saying. Just played Dortmund v PSG (beat them 1-0), great game, both sides playing neat football. The graphics and animations are incredible and the atmosphere in the stadium is brilliant. With the surround sound on it's almost like you're there.:))

Played this a bit more and must say - I'm enjoying it!!!

Think the biggest improvement is the players playing more like individuals, rather than robots. Playing as Southend, I can now really tell the difference between each player, where I never could before.

And its accurate - Lee Sawyer (who is like a young Steven Gerrard and on-loan from Chelsea) is superb and has got MOM in 3 of the 5 games I've player with Southend.

I also like the more physical play - so you can really barge players around now and also the shooting, once you get used to it, is excellent. Love the way shots rise up.

Finally - if anyone has forgotten, there is a 'Game Speed' option. Bumping it up to 'Fast' makes it more enjoyable for me.

Traits are additional "special attributes" which certain players had in Fifa08, for example Michael Owen of course has "injury prone", he also has IIRC "tries to beat last man" and a couple of others, Mark Viduka on the other hand had "target forward" meaning he tried to get on the end of high balls played into him, in Fifa09 none of these traits are visible, there is no section to view them, there is no section to edit them, I know for a fact players in the database were assigned traits because I assigned them to my four teams, so the question is: did EA do away with traits completely or traits are in Fifa09 but they're hidden away so you don't know what special qualities a player has until you play against him or sign him?

I'll try to find out the answer from my EA contacts.

Well im on semi controls and i scored two awesome long rangers last night

The key to shooting is positioning, you need to be at a angle so he can put his foot straight through it. Even shooting sideways on using finesse and his stronger foot works well because then you get whip on the ball
