I was there the first day, the FIFA presentation was only the day after. After a quick lookaround I left, it was crap. I spoke to the EA staff that were setting up demo pods and they told me that it was almost certain that FIFA09 would not be playable in the event at all, so I left with my mind on 9/11...
Only 3 days to go... :)

I haven't played FIFA much and have one question. How is the shooting in FIFA? Is it possible to have manual control in your shots? I mean if I have a player with 99 shooting ability does the ball go 99/100 exactly where I aim with my stick or how does the shooting work?

Your timing, positioning to the ball and curve also come in to play. If you're shooting a controlled shot with the inside of your right foot you'll have to aim more right to the target. But if you're to close to the ball you might hit it more with inside heal which would make it go even more left than you aim. I thinks it's a pretty advanced and life like system that makes it hard to shoot exactly where you aim just like in real life.

The FIFA 08/09 podcast continues to answer the communities questions. To make things easier for you we've got a list of the previously answered questions for you and will be adding any additionaly asked questions here. If you have any questions for the podcast then you can ask them here!
Have any changes been made to reduce the online lag during a game? – Luckydude
Yes, lag free will be vastly improved but some lag may occur depending on your server location.
Will injuries online require the player to be sub'd off like they do when playing offline? - Chelsea2008
There are no injuries during online gameplay to prevent players from being unable to use their favorite players
Has the point system been adjusted to reward those using weaker teams? - footy125
Users will be rewarded for beating players of a higher rank. Also, with the addition of adidas Live Season, the team stats will change depending on real world form making the best team to use determinant on who’s in form in real life.
Can you enable/disable online chat during a game? – hammertime
Yes, you can choose to mute or unmute users during Online Team Play games.
Online leagues were a fantastic introduction into the FIFA series, but needed plenty of work. Only being able to specify an odd no.of games for example (1,3 etc). So will we see any improvement here? I'm thinking of stat tracking, bookings and suspensions. – Mikeeboy
There was stat tracking last year but based only on player and not the user stats. Next week’s announcement will reveal major improvements to our online play and stat tracking.
I'd like to know if FIFA 09 can do online 2 VS 2 or must it be 10 vs 10? – funhairbrush
Yes, in standard Be A Pro: Online Team Play you can play with anywhere from 1-vs-1 to 10-vs-10.
10 v 10: So many people have started threads for team mate, but does anyone know if you will be able to join a lobby and pick who you want to play with and not be random? – giddydrunk
Next week’s announcement will reveal major online feature upgrades
Be a Pro Clan support: What’s the likelyhood of this being in the final version then?? – lucas191092

Am definitely keen on the demo. As someone that skipped out on Euro 08, I think I'm going to be pleasantly surprised by the upgrades in FIFA 09's gameplay. As one of the minority focused on the single-player experience I'm slightly concerned by the lack of AI tweaks, but hope that the overall experience will be less frustrating. Two areas for me are key, and should be easy to fix (i'd of hoped!)
1. Just read IGN's review of NHL 2009, and they comment on playing in the minor leagues being a totally different experience than the pros - sloppy passing, poor shooting, even poor skating. This is something FIFA 08 failed miserably on. When I had a cup game against a div 2 team, they played just as well as Chelsea. It made me question if the stats were even used at all.
2. I think I've sussed the manager mode 'difficulty' slider: it just determines whether or not your shots are saved. On pro mode it's almost impossible to score without a cutback/open player in the box. And it bores the hell out of me now. It's so clearly scripted, and I know I can just play online to avoid this, but I don't get why they'd build that in. Make it harder to create chances, not finish them!
If they fix just those two things, I'll be hooked for another yaer!

Don't you find in single player it's just ridiculously hard to put shots into places the keeper can't get to? Unless I'm massively open, I almost never score how I want to (eg, bottom corner or whatever)
Typically a 1-1 draw of me vs computer has the shots on target of about 12-1 in my favour, but every keeper seems to save their best days for me! I know how to score and get around it, but it just feels forced after a while. There should be a chance of scoring from anywhere, even if it's slim. I don't get that feeling very often against the CPU.

Nope I score fine. What setting do you have shooting on? I play on Semi and have no real problems, some matches I don't score, some matches I score a few, as is realistic. This on Professional with default Sheffield Wednesday players improved by experience. I almost never score cutback goals.

im right there with u....
the part u said: `make it harder to creat chances, not to finnish them!` is perfect for me.
i aways felt like that in all my time playing 08 manager mode...
semi pro and pro became toooo easy, but on world class all my goals would come the same way...pretty much how u described it. that killed the game pretty much for me.

cw is fucked then
i like the sound of that, as it will stop people being sent off for hacking so much and you still get to watch the match if you do :EASY:
p.s Rutter: Our vision for FIFA 09 Clubs was to create a structured, organized system to support user run clubs within FIFA this year where you have the ability to create a club in your own name, recruit friends or players who you have played online and know are good players, into that club to represent you like a kind of Clan.

Hopefully 'the same attribute level' means that everybody get the same amount of skill points, that they can use as they like on the different attributes.
This is nothing less than a little football game revolution :EASY:
And even better, I see Rutter hold the same visions about the future as I do :DD

Clans are in then?!
Looks like creating your own club does require having a manager though?
Edit: Yep, manager is confirmed. There you go Coopz, laughing when manager was mentioned ;))
Rutter: We expect a lot of people will want to participate in FIFA 09 Clubs so we have set up 15 divisions each comprised of 100 Clubs. When you begin you are unranked in any of the 15 divisions. The more wins you get, the better your team plays and the more games you play the faster you will climb up the ranks progressing from Division 15 to ultimately the highest Division 1. However, it is not based solely on winning games to accumulate points. We have a complex formula that calculates points based on each individual player's performance on the pitch. So when you have 10 players on the pitch representing your Club each individual performance contributes to the team's point total. Winning teams accumulate points and losing teams have points deducted also based on how their individual players performed
Yep, "FIFA 09 Clubs" says to me it's definately in. I like how the promotion works by assessing individual players stats and going from those ratings.
It's also interesting that all the players have the same stats, not sure if that's good or bad though.
Now this mode is confirmed, my excitement is bubbling over, I can't bloody wait now! :w00t:

it is a shame but only a minor one, that we cannot have our own created player and stats generated from the offline mode
maybe next year
fifa 09 on the whole is going to be such a huge upgrade of 08
none of this little tweak each year, this has been upgraded in every area it seems (bar manager mode, but we get kind of an online manager mode, but with real humans)
it is all about multiplayer for me, and aslong as the servers can hold up, be stable and are smooth then i am in for a treat like many of you lot

This could be the first year I spend more time online than offline playing a football game.

Sounds like I have to get Live Gold again!
Would be nice if manual players got + points for using manual. I guess manual players can get together though to form a team with like minded, but still.
Does it mean that a team with 3 people will earn less points for their team than a team with lets say 8 people? I mean if they both win their games. I really hope it's like that because then more people will see how important it is to have defenders too. Otherwise I see alot of teams with only 5-6 players with no defenders and a couple of "All" instead.
And I think equal attributes is great, this will show who the best players really are and not who's in control of the best player.
Edit: I wonder how people that play "All" will be rated? Or is the rating for the virtual players and not the individual controlling them?

regarding the player stats remaining the same for every player and being able to create your own club
do you think we can still use our own player that we created offline and use him in the team for example
Wank King makes a player offline, sticks King on his shirt and then gets offered a place at said club
will he then be his own player or will he take the role of a professional player instead?

clan, is kind of like a group of people and in this case a team
so you would have 10 people in your clan/team and you can play another team that has 10 people thus making it 10v10 (although in theory you could have 49 people in said clan but only 10 can be picked for that team)
there will be stats and stuff generated from your performances aswell as collectively as a team
which will then be part of a ranking system
you can recruit people to said team, and scout people
for example you are a manager and your team is good but your right winger is letting you down , lets call him Dags :P in this case
so dags is hogging the ball and putting crosses out, so you look at the leader boards and other teams and check out their right wingers and if his stats are good and he would compliment your team you head hunt him
in the future they are talking money dealings for transfers as close to real life etc but this is something to be worked on

I guess the manager is one of the players, kind of like the captain of the team right? I mean just being a manager seems ridiculous. A playing manager that really is a clan leader :CONF:
But then come the question, can a team play without its manager? And who will take the place for him under that game? Maybe anyone in a team can start up a game and that player would be the captain, but that can't be because then the manager lose control of being a manager... hmm... What if the manager goes on holiday, the rest of the team has to be able to play matches.

not sure how it will work tbh
by the sounds of it, if there are 15 divisons with 100 teams per divison that is 1500 teams - then there would simply be duplicate teams (they could use certain teams as base teams, so for example you choose liverpool and take over the liverpool team but you can rename it to your own teams name, but still using that teams players, but then you could have lookalikes on the pitch), again if we created our own unique team for example evo-web, and used our own offline created players but with the same stats then that would over come that problem

Are you sure?
IGN: I hear that every player on the pitch in this mode is set to the same attribute level. Why do this? Shouldn't I be rewarded for building up my character in the offline Be A Pro mode?
Rutter: Linking your offline character in Be A Pro is a great idea and is something we are certainly looking at doing. But for this year, because it's a new concept and game mode, we didn't want to penalize people who supported lower tier clubs. We don't always want people to play as Barcelona or Real Madrid; sometimes we want them to play as Toronto FC. If Toronto FC had the same level of player attributes they I would be judged on my controller skills rather than the attributes of my virtual player on the pitch. So it is all about being a better player of the game then a better player in the game.
I'm reading that as we have to play as actual players with generic stats.

The generic stats thing kind of makes sense though, in a way. It levels the playing field for all users - otherwise those with no jobs/life could 'level up' their players to ridiculousness, and just wipe the floor with anyone who played them.
Assuming stats make a difference in gameplay this time of course :)

Gary Paterson (EA SPORTS Vancouver, FIFA09 Next Gen) Interview
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-What’s news with the gameplay in FIFA09?
Where to start, there is so many new things in FIFA09. You may have read about the 250 improvements that we have made, some of them are small, some of them are much bigger but in effect every major feature of FIFA gameplay has been improved in some fashion. I guess the biggest changes can be grouped into 3 areas; Responsiveness, Physical Play and Intelligence,
- Responsiveness
Clearly an important concept for FIFA, responsiveness was one area that we and the community identified as needing some improvement in 08 so we devoted a lot of time to working on this. We spent time improving Dribble responsiveness to make sure that the time between pad direction change and players touching the ball was reduced, also adjusting how long the turns were so that you could transition out to another turn or into a pass. On passing and shooting we worked on time to touch but also on adding stretch and slide passes/shots to make sure that when you press the button the player will make every effort to get to the ball. The trapping system was also re-written to give the player more freedom and control of the ball, ensuring that you can move to or away from the ball also making controlling the ball and time between control and your next action (pass, shot, turn) faster.
- Physical Play
We spent a lot of time working on collisions, jostling and shielding this year and I am really happy with the way it turned out. We wanted to ensure that gamers could feel the strength and weight of the players and I think we succeeded in this. Jostling in particular feels really good, the visuals, the feeling and the outcome are all much better than before. Similarly with collisions, we added lots of new animations so that you could really feel the size and direction of the impact, the results can often be dramatic and very satisfying. Add to this the re-worked shielding and new in-air jostling system that allows you to battle for the ball while it is in the air and then allows your players to collide mid air, using attributers and positioning to determine the winner and I think we have a really strong physical play package this year.
- Intelligence
In FIFA you only control one player so it is important that the intelligence of the other 20 players on the field is strong. With this in mind we have spent a lot of time on player positioning and also on the GK. In positioning we added lots of new behaviours to the AI to ensure that they make the correct runs whether it be supporting the ball carrier sideways or backwards or making overlapping, curved or crossing zone runs. And to counter this we added defensive behaviours like covering, man-marking, double marking, swapping markers, position swapping etc… With the GK our aim was to ‘humanise’ him, by that I mean remove occasions where he was super-human and also occasions where he was a little stupid. Again we added lots of new AI that made the GK analyse the situation better, thus he makes decisions on whether to do anticipation saves, reflex saves, preparation saves, catches, parries or simply watch the ball as it sails over or wide of the goal. Finally, we have worked on the AI of the referee, making his decisions more realistic and consistent.
- And much more
Almost every aspect of FIFA gameplay has been altered or tweaked in some fashion, things that I can think of that I have yet to mention include:
1. Swerve Passes – good players will swerve some through balls to avoid the defender
2. Net Physics – has been tweaked to give a more satisfying bulge and recoil more realistically
3. Ball Physics – Has been tweaked to give more realistic in air behaviour, plus the addition of rain and snow effects
4. Through passes – Have been improved to assist the user and create some spectacular plays
5. Combo dribble turns – skilled players can perfrom very quick, fluid combinations of turns
6. Skill Moves – more responsive also new moves have been added
7. Outside of the foot shots
8. 100s of new Animations
9. Lay-off free-kicks
10. Custom Team Tactics
11. Slide Tackling – improved targeting logic to make them more useful
12. Jockey Pressing – a new feature which allows you to contain a possessor instead of diving into a tackle
13. Player Reactions – players will react to the plays, applauding or criticizing or pointing for passes
14. Referees – refs and linesmen are actually part of the game
15. etc…
Overall, we concentrated on all of the fundamentals of the game and rising their quality, we did not want to add any fancy new features until we were happy that the fundamentals were very, very solid. I think you will agree when playing that this was the correct decision.
- What was the role of the fan’s community in these changes?
Community is very important to FIFA, this time last year when we were planning our features for FIFA09 we gathered as much feedback as we could, much of this from the community via our community managers, Obviously we do not have the resources to act on everything that our community suggest, it is our job as Producers and Designers to prioritize what we feel will have the greatest impact to the largest number of gamers and ensure that the game has a common direction, but rest assured that any ideas that we did not use will not be forgotten but stored away for future versions if the game. Going forward we as a development team are becoming more and more involved in communicating with our community, I think you will shortly see a change in the way and frequency with which we, the dev team, communicate with our gamers.
- Today, the realism of the FIFA09 gameplay is recognized by all, we imagine that you should be very proud...
As a lifelong football fan (Aberdeen and Scotland), a lifelong football player and a lifelong football gamer it was always a goal of mine to work on FIFA and it is a great privilege to be able to do so. It also carries a lot of responsibility as I know that there are literally millions of fans out there who buy the game and look for lots of different features from it. We work hard to keep our fans happy and build a game for them so I’m just glad that they are liking what we have done so far but we know that there is still lots we can do so we won’t stop building on what we have.
- About the 10vs10, how does it work with the gamepad in hand?
10v10 is a lot of fun, though it takes some discipline to play well. The first games we had in the office were a little manic, and perhaps not as much fun for the football purist, but once everyone got used to playing in one position and keeping possession we have started to have some really fun games. We have even got into a little trouble as we were making too much noise celebrating goals so the people from other teams were getting a little annoyed J.
- In what position will we see you in that mode?
I’m not sure yet, we are going to put a team together with some of the guys from FIFA but we have not decided who will play where. In real life I play anywhere on the right or centre, in fact I have mostly played sweeper recently as my team does not have many defenders, I would like to play either CM or RM but I have a feeling that I will end up in defence.
- Let’s talk about live season adidas, how does it work?
adidas Live Seasons is a great new addition to our game that adds variety and tactical depth to our game by adjusting players form/attributes on a weekly basis. The feature is available for six top leagues (Mexico, England, France, Italy, Germany, Spain) and is a service meaning that you have to sign up for it in game via XboxLive or PSN. Gamers are given one league for free and will be asked to pay for any additional leagues. A team at EA will be analysing the form of each player in real life and updating this in our database, gamers will then be able to download this data into their console every week. Of course you have the option to turn the form updates off, on a game by game basis, if you wish (say if your top striker is off form J). Overall the feature is surprisingly effective as it adds a whole new dimension as even a kick-off match will have variety and tactical subtlety that it never had before.
- What is your favourite Interactive League Team, and what is your goal for this new season?
Being an Aberdeen fan my team do not have an interactive league, but being Scottish I support any team with a Scottish connection so I follow Manchester Utd (as Alex Ferguson used to manage my team Aberdeen) and Everton. I chose Everton as my IL team, we did well last year, better than expected perhaps (just like in real life) so anything better than that would be a bonus.
- In a way to conclude, do you have a word for the French FIFA09 community?
Thanks for the support and I hope you enjoy the game. We will be in touch soon to get your feedback on FIFA09 to help us decide the features that we should put into future FIFA games.

During Manager Mode will Champions League games be played at night as they are in real life?
JG – Unfortunately, this is not actually a code limitation as much as a stadium limitation. Not all stadiums in the game have a night time light condition as it making lighting conditions for each stadium takes some time to put together. And since the User could potentially play any team in the game (stadiums assigned to home team), the condition would vary between day and night depending on stadium. So for sake of consistency, all matches are during the day since all stadiums have daylight.

I've not read anything that confirms this. There will be a lot more generic stadia this time around, but what worries me is that every team in the Premier League will use the same generic English stadium, every La Liga tam will use the same generic Spanish stadium, etc etc.
A simple option in the editor to assign home grounds is all that is needed.

I don't understand why night lighting is such an issue. EA designed about a dozen new stadia from scratch for Euro2008 and all had great night lighting.

My lord that video is awesome. I know Konami are from a different market and therefore things are well, different in terms of marketing and creating hype - but just by releasing that video FIFA has impressed me to no ends. They're not perfect, but they're genuinely trying and passionate about it too.

Disappointed with that.
But on 08, every time i had a CL game, i would quit manager mode, quickly create an exhibition match at night time, kick-off, kick the ball out of play then quit the game and go back to manager mode. The game was then played at night time.
I hope that glitch is still on '09.

Guys, if you were thinking of getting a console just for this game, what would be the best/cheapest option? Would an Xbox Arcade be ok?
Any advice would be appreciated as I'm not clued up on consoles (being a PC gamer *ducks*)
Yeah man, FROM AMAZON Arcades are are £150 nowadays but you may be better of getting a 60gb xbox 360 premiuim for £189
so for an extra £40 you get 60gb's of space (which will allow you to download fifa 09 demo :-pp
but you choice man, if you are buying it JUST for FIFA then arcade may be better for you

EA's lazyness to rectify simple issue's is "mindboggoingley" frustrating.
As Jamezinho mentioned a simple option to assign the team's home stadium, would be absolutley perfect.
Yet EA can spend time on silly issues such as defining a players ankle tape colour!

Fifa 08 FAQ: http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/fifa-08-next-gen/239046-update-06-09-fifa-08-faq.html
Will FA Cup games go to a replay if the game is drawn?
Unfortunately not. This is not a supported structure at this time but it is something we’re looking forward to implementing for the next iteration of FIFA.
Let me guess, it's not in?
Can keepers get sent off or injured this year?
Unfortunately we weren’t able to add this feature into the game this year but it’s on the list for next year.
50% there I believe? Keepers can be sent off but not injured, right? Let's hope we're not forced to name a keeper as one of the subs......
Will crucial games (cup-finals for example) be any different from other games?
Unfortunately not this year.
Nor this year.
Will it be possible to manage international teams? Unfortunately not this year.
Nor this year.
Will the MLS be structured realistically (two conferences and play-offs)?
Unfortunately not. This is not a supported structure at this time but it is something we’re looking forward to implementing for the next iteration of FIFA.
Not this year either.
Will the SPL be structured realistically (after 33 games, the top and bottom 6 “split”)?
Unfortunately not. This is not a supported structure at this time but it is something we’re looking forward to implementing for the next iteration of FIFA.
Not this year either.
Will the Dutch leagues be structured realistically (with play-offs)?
Unfortunately not. This is not a supported structure at this time but it is something we’re looking forward to implementing for the next iteration of FIFA.
Not this year either.
Lots of empty promises to fans of manager mode. And now we learn still no night midweek matches, still no AI squad rotation to combat fatigue, so again we will play matches against players at 10% fitness who can run around the pitch for 90 minutes as if they're fully fit :(

If you ever get a chance of asking the EA people why they only allow one player per team to jump up to head a ball, please do Placebo. It would be interesting to know if they plan to remove this script or if we should expect this unrealistic behaviour in years to come. Even old PES let many players jump and try to head the ball.
Placebo
9 September 08, 20:34
You mean players on your own team? You want the player under your control to jump for a header and other players in your team controlled by the AI to jump for the same ball at the same time? Wouldn't that get in the way? With Fifa09's new collision system I'd be seriously pissed off if the opponent scores because as I jumped up for a header one of my teammates under AI control jumped for the same ball and knocked me out of the way!

Easily, when it is something so simple to produce.

the thing with fifa atleast for me it always locks on the player who is going to win/lose the ball everytime so its fine by me...
evacuate
9 September 08, 20:48
Sort of. If you play BAP or CYC you'll see what I mean easier. Because if you're trying to head a ball, that you're in perfect positions for, but for some reason another player in your team is locked on to the ball you can't head the ball. It will result in you yelling to the other player to head the ball.
But it's not only in BAP this ruins the game for me. It's the same if you're defending a corner in normal singleplayer and you stand in front of an attacker and try to head the ball away. Often the game will lock the ball to your teammate that is behind the attacker, even if you could head it. And because you don't have time to change player and the fact that in FIFA you teammates doesn't do actions (head, clear the ball and so on) it will result in only the attacker trying to head the ball.
It's the same if there is a cut back and the player you are controlling just can't reach the ball. Even if there is another defender that could take the ball he wont to it because you were locked on to the ball, and only when the "lock on" changes to him, he can try to take the ball.
I hope that made sense. This was never a problem in PES because first off all there is no restriction in PES on how many people can try to attack the ball. And secondly in PES your own team AI will try to head/reach the ball even if you're not controlling them and are locked to the ball with your own player. That is if they are so close to the ball that they CAN reach it.

The problem is when you have a crap defender meeting someone like Toni you will lose every challenge. But if more defenders attacked the ball you would have bigger chance of winning the header/push Toni/get Toni's header in your face when jumping up, stopping the ball.
With this new physics system I get the feeling that the Kollers and Tonis will be unstoppable in the air. It was already hard in 08/Euro without them being strong. If you ever play against Serbia in Euro 08 you know what I mean. They have a mediocre team but one of the attackers win every header, it's pretty much impossible to defend against. I guess it's also because every cross from the AI or people playing on semi/auto will reach the player in the box.

I didn't really expect anything else, to be honest.
It seems that online is the be-all and end-all for developers at the moment, which is very much to the detriment of the single player game in this case. I enjoy online gaming as much as the next man, but any game should be based around a deep and solid single player mode as a priority. I wouldn't say EA have been lazy as such - the amount of work they've put into the gameplay is clear for all to see - but it's frustrating that such simple issues in the Manager Mode are not addressed (issues that should be easy to correct for a company of EA's stature).
Also, the editor needs to be greatly expanded as well, partly because Fifa is not a fully licensed game, but more so because the editing aspect is what helped make PES such a cult game. I just feel some of the basics are being neglected in favour of flashy online modes.

there are a few little things with manager mode that would have taken an afternoon to fix - that would have made such a big difference. Like the playoffs.
I think they could have easily sorted the little things out - they just didn't want to.

The more I think about it, the more I hate this 'same attributes' feature in club mode. So every player is exactly the same and has no individuality? What's the point of choosing a specific player if they don't have their own strengths and weaknesses?
Surely a better way of doing it would've just been to award more league points if you beat a better team, rating wise?

Played euro08 again at the weekend and was surprised to see a couple of "new" 09 elements already present. The new collision system seemed to be inplace but less advanced; I noticed a late tackle hitting the trailing leg and the player being able to steady himself and continue running, two players colliding for a ball with the weaker falling to the ground. I was surprised as I hadnt noticed it before and thought it was new for 09. Seems they have finetuned it / made it more noticable.

If each clan is based on a real team and you have to use a player based on a real one, at the same time you can have up to 50 players in the squad. Then it will be a lot of Rauls on the field at the same time.
I really cant see this as being the case, even though this is how you can read the article on IGN. Ive read the answer several times, but its really a very strange answer.
They basically say that we all use players at the same level, and it is not possible to level up. That doesnt have to mean that every attribute is the same for all players. I hope they really mean that it is the overall attribute level that is equal for every player. The overall attribute level that is a number in fifa today (for instance Fabregas has overall 88). That again translates into a certain amount of attribute points that is divided on the different attributes.
It will pretty dull if all players is equally fast and strong. I would think that the player creation for clans is similar to the player creation in CYC.
EA will hopefully release better info in the near future.

Looking at the vid just reminds me how the best fifa players will get the best out of the game. They'll get to see the improvement on the tricks, passing, shooting etc because they put more into trying to create a goal (at higher levels and against tougher opposition).
Most of the vids we've seen so far have been played by newbs to the game/series (you can tell) and so we've not seen the best of it as of yet.
With the demo coming tomorrow, we'll see for ourselves. Hopefully it's a build that closely resembles the final build/release.

Turned the console back on, and it had vanished.....grrr.
I'll be astonished if the demo isn't released tomorrow, its obviously ready to go up.
If your download speed was supernaturally fast, you'd be plaing Fifa 09 already

Some great animations and a messy write up of what i saw
from the off i like how players reach out and try to grab and push the player with the ball, shielding looks very realistic. While that back attempt looks amazing i hope it don't happen often, collisions looks even better in slo-mo. You see the urgency they mentioned with the cut back interception and i bet you can silde in to do this as well and wipe the player out at the same time . Even more realisim with the player waving to come back on and moaning about tackles
all in all the animations just flow brilliantly
There is gonna be alot of videos on here tomorrow if thats anything to go by :))

In the game demo's section?
Im 110% sure it was not the HD trailer.
What a day off that would have been had I been able to download succesfully.

Just had a thought today will be the last time that many of us play Fifa 08.
It's been emotional.

Right, no I doubt it, but you can use the tactical options to have more players go in the box, same as in Fifa08 you could use "Defence Attack" and have one or two defenders go up for corners/freekicks.
sweet. obviously you can tell i dont play fifa, but ive been told that there's "flood the box" option (from a friend who plays fifa) when you're say 0-1 down and desperately trying to snatch a draw in the dying seconds. im assuming this will be in 09. so when you use flood the box, how many players will do just that?
another query i have is in regards to long throw ins. how effective are they? is there an attribute that dictate which players can execute it?

will there be occurrences of subtle and wild deflections from long distance shots and free kicks off walls that result in freak goals, near misses etc? i havent seen anything that shows this off in gameplay videos
