There won't be many names to correct. Only the Premier League teams will be unlicensed (bar Newcastel & Spurs) and some International squads. The remaining leagues and 'other' clubs will all be licensed, with correct names etc. It won't be as painful as the old days.

I just downloaded the fifa 2008 demo off xbox market place ( you need to get it off the american servers and have an hdtv to play it if you are in the UK). The reason being is i was totaly gutted when fixed cursor and player cam was removed after version pro evo 5. I always played it in that mode. Now with the play as a pro mode in fifa 2008 again you can be 1 player. So I played it for a few hours today an it is a great idea but fifa is no where near as good for game play and also i thought the graphics in fifa 2008 were ok nothing amazing. Does anyone know if the fixed cusor option and playercam will be back in pro evo 2008. In pro evo 5 player cam was an option in the PES shop you had to unlock like birds eye cam. I have scanned the web and its not even mentioned. To be honest i know loads of people who didnt even know he old pro ev 5 had it

Doubt it...how would they know bout the option having proper names etc...If they did then they wouldn't agree to allow editing in the first place...I'm sure if this was the case though they would just use a default online OF that cannot be edited seperate from the offline version.

Its killing me that PES 2008 is not coming out before late October:( I were having great hopes for Fifa 08, but those hopes was crushed today as I downloaded the fifa 08 demo from Live. A lot is better with the game this time though. The game looks good, and player faces have improved. Small things as actually going for a header in midtfield, good animation on tackling, smarter AI(in defence at least) harder to score, the kits looks verry good also. But the game is still no fun to play! Dribling is frustrating, the game is to slow, seems like the players cant run.. takes to long to make a simple pass and its simply not possible to have a fast/fun football game from EA!

Excuse me if this has been asked already, but has there been any talk of whether or not we can bring edited kits online? How about official roster updates, custom rosters for unranked games, or Master League teams online?

It seems like Konami neglects the online potential of the series, aside from trying to make the game full 11 v 11. JMO.

Does anyone really believe that PES2008 will be different from PES6 on the 360??? I say no, we get only a PES6,5 or FE, with all stuff like the PS2 has, editors and so on! Nothing more! No Better Graphics a few new stadiums (same as in PS2 foe Years) and thats its!

yes yes ! Konami does for 4 Games now the same shit, only a few animations are new, nothing more, and see Pes 6 on the 360, this was only a promo game not the full version! You will get it now called PES2008! Thats what makes me angry!
When i told about virtua striker, see how old it is and how a Stadium and Pitches has been done! they look great, also the animations are smooth! and this on an old gen machine like the Cube/ Dreamcast!
then see PES 6 on next gen. Cartoony graphics and not perfect animations!

And i hread my post correctly, i sid: Graphics and animations From VS and gameplay from WE! VS is an Arcade game!

But the point is:Konami can do it better!

As far as editing is concerned I think there will be OF's out there for the 360. PesFan released one for PES6 which gave correct team and player names and that was when there was limited editing options (see here http://rapidshare.com/files/15965507/Xbox_360_Edit_Data.zip).

I think this year pes 2008 will have loads of room for editing.

Sorry but on 360 we cant patch or use other peoples saves as the saves are signed with a code that marries them with your profile name so if you want all the strips you will need to do it yourself.

The reason this is is to stop people cheating with the gamerpoints MS have a big list of saves that are blacklisted and will sow up as corrupt on your Xbox 360 hdd.

This is one of the reasons iam not getting the game the other is that iam disappointed in this years game once again.

If you can't download or save someone elses option file then it is disgraceful!

If most of the teams so not have proper names etc and the only way you can change it is by spending two weeks doing it yourself, then they should sell the game for half the price of a full game.

It is all to well the gameplay, but the names of the players and teams etc are the Soul of the game - if you don't have it then it feels crap - playing with Mersyside red or some shit - Rubbish.

Patching the game on the 360 won't be possible yet, but you will be able to share OF. What you'll need to be sure of is that the OF you get hold of is'nt from a console that's been "banned" and also that you make some small editing to the updated OF yourself so that it will be "signed" with your consoleID. There's been talk of a resigning prg for 360 gamesaves as we had it for the old xbox, but I can't confirm this...

For example my OF for PES6 is originally from PESfan v.1 with corrected playernames. If I were to give anyone of you guys this file and you did som small editing yourself and saved the OF on your console you would be home free, no corrupted file. But if you on the other hand downloaded a file from f.e. 360gamesaves, you probably would end up with a corrupted OF because of the consoleID is on the MS list of consoles (MS downloaded saves witch had been uploaded by several users, MS checked the consoleID of those saves, and revoked those console in their spring dash-update) that have had their transfer option revoked. I don't think the gamertag is involed at all though..

The problem is that most of the known OF editors consoleID's most likely is on that list, so the OF for PES2008 has to come from a "fresh" console, but I'm sure this won't be a problem, the PES community is way to large so let this stop them ;)

I feel more at ease with the PS2 controller, but that's only because I haven't played PES6 enough on the 360 (game was god awful). The only thing that bothers me is going from :r1: to :r2:. When I want to push the ball forward, I usually slide my finger from one to the other, which I can't do with the 360 controller.

The more I hear about this game the more depressed I'm getting. This is the least excited I've been prior to a new version of ISS/PES being released.

Hardly any progress made on licenses, graphics not up to much, demo not that great, keepers are shockingly bad (hopefully this will be fixed though), less options for editing and now we're not able to transfer option files! That's not too mention how bad Konami's presentation skills are - I've never seen such awful menus!!!

PES4 was by far the weakest released but since PES5 hardly any progression, new features, moves and skills have been introduced. Only diving has made it into this years version, which lets face it, isn't that great an addition. The best versions for me have been ISS Pro, Winning Eleven 6 Final Evolution, PES3 and Winning Eleven International.

The gameplay is starting to feel all too famililar. Why not add more skills options like FIFA? Also, how and why this game isn't fully licenced by now is beyond me and Konami need to get their act together.

I actually purchased FIFA this year and while its made some good progress will still be behind PES this year. However, I have become so discontent with PES that I'm praying FIFA is finally better next year so we won't have to worry about editing real kits, players, stadiums and option files.

I have been trying to find that info on wenb, but no luck so far:) With the option file problems for the 360 it seems now that we have to make the kits our self by downloading the kit pictures from wenb. Thats okay I guess but what do I need to buy to make this happen? The xbox live camera or just an usb connection(Transfer kit:https://www.gamezone.no/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4158_4161_4162&products_id=25725) between your 360 and pc? I am guessing this goes for the face images in create a face through pictures feature as well..

By the looks of things there are no English stadiums in the game..SHAME on Konami! How can you have a football game and have almost nothing from the Premier League?? Witch is with out a doubt the best league in the world at the moment. No Emirates, Anfield, Old Trafford & Stamford Bridge?, but they put Newcastle and Tottenham in the game?! WOW! Animation are bad in my opinion, cant edit boots, emblems, no OF trading for the 360, slowdown on the PS3, some bad graphics, ugly menus, horrible music by the sound of it, BIG lack of license, to few stadiums, no big changes to the already boring ML, lack of dribling/feints?
Kits look to paperish..Dont need to say anything about the speed and running animation do I?! For me this is not acceptable! I will not pay that much money for a game wich is that poorly made and from a company that
apparently does not listen to what fans want, or maybe its because they dont have the ability to make "such" a game? This may seem like a strong reaction from me, but after waiting for a new great pes game from konami for years now, I have simply had enough with them. I am so glad Fifa is playable this year, its just so incredible that a BIG football game like PES wich have been the leading football game for so many, many years now can take so many steps back when moving to the next-gen system. There is slowdown but it ONLY happens during replays when the penalty box and area is crowded. It doesnt happen at all during the gameplay. And also you CANNOT import your faces using a usb stick, that was the first thing i tried, the only way you can get your face on there is with the xbox live vision camera.

Bought it, not sure what to think of it yet. It seems a bit arcadey a la fifa of old...one of the main reasons is that it's very easy to dribble with players even at high speed (holding rb). In pes6 you had to find a balance between slower but better controllable dribbles and sprinting dribbles to get past multiple players... here you can dribble easily even with the likes of deco (who aren't exactly that type of players) through defences if you were any good in previous pes games... it remains to be seen how this will work out against human opponents.

THERE IS NO SLOWDOWN DURING GAMEPLAY AT ALL!! With or without "wide" cam(you can no longer change the angle tho like previous PES games). Slowdown ONLY occurs during replays and cut-scenes, its a bit annoying but it dont exactly ruin the game. I dont know what your on about but that simply aint true.

Which part of that sentence do i say i bought the game from there? Did you even click on the link? Obviously not because if you did you would have read this "You’ll even be sent a pre-release edition of PES 2008 to help hone your skills before the big night." Ive been playing it tonight and yes there is a huge lag issue with xbox live - what did we expect? The game is never ever good on live when it comes out, and its not officially out for another 5 days. A patch, I am sure, will soryt it out.

Im happy to report that this version of the game shits on the last xbox 360 version from a great height - although I never really liked that version. This is slick, responsive, fast, and I just scored a volley from an onrushing deco straight into the top corner that was probably one of the best goals I have ever scored.

The game is "out" on the usual channels, and yes thats how I have it until my bought copy arrives in a few days time. There are quite alot of people online with it now though so its creeping out there.

Only one on one matches online, no leagues or cups. Defending i think is harder, no more running up to players and using X to get the ball so easily but its balanced well. Adriano is just a mere mortal now :) definitely not as overpowered as before.

I havent tried playing 2v2 online but it doesnt look like you can do it once again. I dont know why this is - how on earth they can get away with it I dont know. I suppose its because everyone is going to buy the game regardless anyway.

Online looks almost exactly the same as last years meagre efforts. The game is fucking ace though.

I dont know about edit mode because Ive never once used it in my life I cant be arsed - so ask someone who bums the game harder. All i know is the attacking play can be absolutely sublime, the keepers feel harder to beat, and that ronaldinho is this year as good as adriano ever was. Expect to see everyone playing as barca or brazil.

I dont know is this is "different" to the demo build, but the game is better than i thought it was going to be. I dont care about the slowdown in the replays because I dont really watch them or save them that much.

Personally i think its another disappointment.

I know graphics don't make a game good but the graphics a fucking bobbins, the animation on Ronaldo when he runs is almost comical, also the slowdown when it happens is horrendous, i thought this was supposed to be the true 'next gen' version of Pro Evo? it looks no better than it did on the PS2.

The lack of license has always been a problem but the complete lack of any English stadiums is shite, 6 of the 15 stadiums are completely made up

The gameplay is decent enough but feels a bit more arcadey than usual, still plays well but just doesn't feel 'real' like Pro Evo should, it might be to do with the pace of the game which seems a bit faster than usual.

Its a great game don't get me wrong but its fallen short of what i was expecting.

i've gotta say that i think this version just rocks, i'm normally one of the naggers when a new version comes out but i think gameplay is approaching near perfection.

it's a massive step up from PES6 in terms of reality, the really good players stand out alot more.....i just tried to win the World Cup with Australia and it was very hard on top player. the one problem i have in terms of gameplay so far is the through passes on ground ......a couple of times they seem to be directed toward a player it shouldn't goto.

it's alot harder to just dribble through players and i think the AI stuff might actually be doing something ....quite often in the 2nd half the cpu will close me down quite well and restrict my chances toward the end of the game.

yes the graphics/animations are pretty shit, yes the replays jerk like crazy and annoy the hell out of you until you put it in camera mode but there's virtually no slowdown during the game which is what matters in my book....unless an injured player comes back onto the pitch.

free kicks are easier and corners seem easier to score with also.

shooting is improved immensely from PES6, way less balls are skied and i've had a couple of 35-40 yard screamers scored against me by the cpu team which is kinda nice to see, put one in myself too with Eto'o from about 35.

It's pretty easy to improve from PES6 that was pretty bad.
I doubt they've improved leaps and bounds though, if only they kept all the ps2 features and added more game modes but they've gone and done the opposite.

They need to rebuild the engine from scratch for the next gen for it to play more next gen but obviously they must keep PES feel to it and start adding features rather than cutting.

From the shots I've seen, there are various Adidas +teamgeist balls and some default PES styles in the normal match menus. The Nike ball is still only in Primera Liga.

I have the game for the 360 and contrary to what polakis says it does suffer from slowdown and drops in framerate.

Ive not played the PS3 version but i believe installing it on the HD pretty much eliminates the majority of the issues mentioned, its a pity the 360 version doesn't have the same option.

there is lag in replays on the 360 version, other than that no slowdown at all offline, thats including corners.

Seabass: This year the 360 and PS3 versions of the game are exactly the same so I'm satisfied with both. I think it's a good start.

IGN: In the PS3 version we've played we noticed some slow-down in the game, plus the crowd and stadiums aren't as polished as some of the on-pitch features. Will you look to rectify this in the next game?

Seabass: Of course. To be honest I don't think the slow-down is that bad compared to the 360 and as I said, we don't create just a PS3 game, we created both together. But when we compared them directly we were shocked because the PS3 has a little bit more slowdown and we don't really know why.

I reckon some of these 360 users must have slowdown in game and its down to their TV eg HD or not etc,or pitch camera setup....or their 360 is a piece of turd.

I'm wondering about this too.
I played the 360 version on numerous pitches on my 42" HD samsung.
NO SLOWDOWN IN-GAME AT ALL (replays are jerky as hell though)

I played the PS3 version, installed on the HDD, at my mates last night (my PS3) on his 44" Rear Projector.
The juddering is awful. Its not like its massive slowdown, although it does slowdown sometimes, but its like the players flicker kind of. Its hard to explain without actually showing someone.

I had the stadium effects ON for the 360 version
I had the stadium effects OFF for the PS3 version

Tv has nothing to do people... The TV I have is very good. It must be the settings you were playing. Stadiums, weather effects and other things probably make the frame rate drop. Which is inexcusable.
tried all diff sorts of match mine dosnt drop at al during gameplay and replays arnt always jittery either

Online mode is well dodgy at the moment, it's like the game is on speed, all that's required is the Benny Hill theme to be played in the background.

dunno if this has already been asked but if you edit a teams kit can you use it online or does it just refer back to the default

I wud b surprised if u cud use edited kits - main reason being if 2 players r playin each other wiv differently edited kits, may be kit clash.

Onli way this wud work wud b if the game decided on 1 option file 2 b used by both players which wud onli intensify the lag im afraid...

Can someone explain how the chip shot works? In the commands list it says :

Chip show (Low) : X --> Gauge on RB

What does that mean? You press X then hold RB after shooting? How do you control the height?

i've always used the left shoulder button and shoot...

longer you hold shoot, higher/futher the chip.

Ive had a bit of slowdown on 360, but only when there is a player injured and he comes back on the pitch. replays look like they are being filmed by your dad when hes pissed on a sunday afternoon
