1 on 1 with ML Teams - 2 Mem Cards Problem

sorry if it has been asked before, but heres my 'problem':

i always play my mate, each one with his ML best eleven, accordingly we have 2 mem cards in the ps2. the game used to ask in former versions from which mc to load or even automatically loaded one from slot 1 and the other from slot 2.
now with we8le we have to pull out mem card nr 1 after loading the home team in order to make the game ask where the mem card has gone and we can choose slots.
am i talking jibberish right here or does anybody know what i mean?
my question is, if theres an easier way to play 1 vs 1 with ml teams?

Try this.
Load P1's team and then when it checks the first mem card again, go up to Change which should be above the first row of slots and then change it to mem card 2 and carry on with loading from the second card.
