I got an Xbox in the last week and I'm getting used to the Controller S. It ain't all that bad.

Also, won't the white and black buttons replace L2 and R2? I won't miss L2 much but I do use R2 alot. But the black button is easy to reach.

I got a GAME controller bundled with my Xbox. It places the black and white buttons above the X and Y buttons. The controller also fits more snugly into your hand.

Id get a converter to use a ps2 controller. I use one for my pc and will probably use one for my box (when I get it) you can buy them at: consoleplus.co.uk, lik-sang.com and play-asia.com. The only probs I've ever heard of these is that some dont support the use of steering wheels, dance mats etc.

The other problem is that they don't support the voice communicator so you won't be able to talk while your playing online.

IMO, to talk while you are playing is a fun and important part of the game as you chat about bad decisions or amazing strikes etc.

This adapter allows PS2 controllers to be used on Xbox and also LOOKS like you can use the headset. I'm not guaranteeing that the voice communicator will fit in, but it does look like it will.

Hmmm interesting,

the only reason im buying an xbox is to play PES4 online, and really wanna use my beloved ps2 controller, but if this is not possible with xbox live I guess ill have to learn to use the xbox un. How do you connect the xbox live mic etc then, you simpy plug it into the xbox controller? (u can really tell I havent played to often! ;) )

that extension cable will be no good for the dreambox as there is no place to put the dreambox's big connector into ther extension lead

sureley it cant be that difficult to go to maplin and buy some standard audio leads and snip the ends off, and then snip the end off the xbox live headset and just join them all back together with the new leads as an extension....im only speculating here, but i would think it would work,
the xbox live headset will only have 2 wires inside of the sheath, 1 for the mic and one for the earpiece, so just extending these wires would do the trick

apparently they keep putting the release date of the hip wireless headset back all the time

its now due out on the 1st october

right, just snipped the headset and there are 4 wires inside, 1 white, one red and blue intertwined rope kind of wire, and some bare wires, hmm not as easy as first thought, tried to connect the 4 wires with some standard audio wire but i cant get it to work...good job ive got a spare headset :)

yes thats the one we need,

i went to game store today in nottingham and bought one for £6.99 they had loads in,
only problem is that they are quite short, only about 1 to 1.5 mtrs long (ive not got my tape measure handy so cant give exact length) but you can buy more than one and join them together (this will become pretty expensive)

just waiting for my dreambox to arrive and ill test it with that, but its looking good at last

i searched the net for a couple of hours last night and it looks like game are the only people that stock this kind of extension lead

fast and really nice service! only 3 days! from germany.

anyways, i testes the dreambox with the mic and it worked! i was able to record my own voice and send as voice mail to my m8.

i got the demo today on ps2 it rocks, the analogue buttons work very well, would any of you happen to know wether or not the dream box convertor still enables analogue on your ps2 pad???? becuase in the demo it works really well, especially with high through passes

Yo! i dont think the extension jacks fomr phone work properly! I think one of my mates tryed with one last week, it was SUXXY, he couldnt hear well sometime, and it went on and off. and u couldnt use mic at the same time either! dunno! maybe we need a special model one for the xbox!

i ordered mine from there, until 2 days later they emailed me and said they dont suppoert foreign visa card! im from DK, my visa works everywere in the world. so i calle them and they just couldnt explain to me why their machine wont eat my CC! lol!

so i bought from lik-sang! super service and 3 days delivery!

they exist as the black and white buttons on the xbox pad, when you plug in the ps2 adaptor thingy it switches the black and wite buttons to L1 and R1 (i think) so then you just fix the controls in PES4 options..... ya see ;)

Hi there, I just got dreambox but I am struggling to get dash and change cursor on the correct ps2 pad buttons. When i try to swap them round I get a message saying L and the white button cannot be used for certain commands.
Can anyone who has one of these working with the correct button assignment please list what buttons are assigned to where on the menu ?

Just change "Change Cursor" with "Strategy" and "Dash" With "Special Move". I thnk thats the correct way round anyway. You'll soon work it out, only 1 of the bottom 2 will change with L, so the other one changes with R (Don't know why they made the convertor that way round, you'd think they'd swap L & R for L & R top, not bottom, and Black & White for L & R Bottom, not top, still, it works).

ive been playin pro evo 4 for the last week for the box and you get used to it after while
its great to play at a constant 60fps and fast loading times

like i said you will get used to th pad lay it works with practice

you can also use the voice communicator with it, all you need to do is unscrew the bottom and take out the bit of plastic that normally stops it fitting in the memory card slot. it works fine with all PES4 controls once you reconfigure the buttons.

Anyway, just been playin with me PS2 pad and its great.
I thought there was a delay with the sprint buttons but realised you have to change round black/white and R/L and then everythin is hunky dory!

Live headset also worked (recorded voice mail) although I have to say that the connection you plug the Live headset into is extremely unstable.
Its already fell out a few times, I think it is gonna be best to blu-tak or tape it into the socket, then simply unplug the 2.5mm cable when it isn`t bein used.

I got mine from darkplanet, ordered at 4:15 on friday, they were here saturday at 9:30am - how is that for service :D

You cant play LIVE with a backup. You need the original game.

I have decided to get my chip upgraded to an Alladin, seemed as good as any.

Yes, you can have EvoX installed. On the chip I'm getting, I'm gonna have 3 bioses. The original for LIVE, the one you can do what you want with (backups, games on hard drive, emulators etc) and the third which cant be changed so you can always get in.

As long as I keep the network cable unplugged when I'm using the other bios, I should have 0% risk of getting banned.

right, here goes

you can you any of the new kind of chips that support switches..alladin, executer etc (the alladin uses a switch by where if you switch the xbox on with the power button the chip is disabled and if you switch it on with the eject button the chip is on...or it could be the other way around), the executer uses a hardware switch that sits on the front of the xbox where you physically switch it off.. If the chip is on there is a green light showing and if the chip is off there will be a red light showing.

you will also need the latest bios on the chip that stops you going on xbox live, my xbox is permanantly connected to my router, so if for example i play a backup of starwars battlefront, then it will automatically try and connect me to xbox live as soon as the game boots up, if i didnt have the latest bios which stops this then my box would be knackered for xbox live because as soon as microsoft sees a modified bios online it bans the machine (well in theory it does anyway, but there are ways to get the box back online:))
i have tried to connect with the latest bios just to see if it works and yes it does thank god, so, if you want to go on xbox live, just disable the chip(with the switch) and when the box boots, it boots the microsoft bios as normal:).

you cannot play a backup of any game via the microsoft xbox live service, you can play a backup via xbconnect or kai if the game supports system link(but most new games dont, and from my experience with xbconnect its mostly filled with halo players)..xbox live is the best way to play games, and for once in my life i dont mind paying full price for the game if it supports online play as its soooooo much fun......

It's the other way round. That's exactly what I'm getting, my old Enigmah just dont cut it for LIVE. :-)

there are rumours flying about all over the place about this hard drive buisness, but ive had a 160 gig in for ages and it hasnt affected me, but you never know what microsoft will be up to

im keeping my original xbox hard drive as a backup just in case :) and a new eeprom as well :)

About the Hard Drive, a couple of my mates have had bigger hard drives put in and have had no problems. The problems arise when the hard drive has been unlocked. You just need to make sure it's locked. But I know nothing about this.

Edit. Sweet, Darkplanets have sent my converters, I've ordered two PS2 pads on ebay and I went to GAME today and picked up the correct extension lead (They had 2 on the shelf).

XBOX should be picked up sometime this week, next week at the latest, it's all coming together. Will oder the LIVE kit and Splinter Cell once I get my XBOX back. I havent been this excited in years, can you tell?

You could in theory, but im not 100% certain, besides the LIVE™ Headset uses a smaller plug than a standard Headphone plug. I doubt it would fit the headphone extension lead!

Anyway, got my Dreamboxes today from Darkplanets. Work great. I dont know if it's me though but sometimes, I'd say aboit 1 in 10, when you want to do a first time shot, it doest worK? Naj, it's just me, it's perfect.

Weird settign up the contoller config, it wouldnt let me do it for ages, said something about mapping the controls but in the end it just worked. Everything is exactly as is on PS2 now. The only difference I can see is to cycle through the teams on the team selections creen you have to use the bacl R and L buttons.

Need to get used to the Winning Eleven/PES different menu buttons - as always is the case. (ie. Circle is not go and so on...)

Try changing the button config so that you use 'B' as 'special controls' and the 'black' button as 'long ball'

I use an Xbox S pad and this works a treat as i use manual passing for everything (analogue sticks) so the only time you need to use the black button is when crossing and it means that 'B' can be used as the 'R2' equivalent and its right next to the other buttons hence easier to press (unlike the 'black' button)

Interesting.. so it has black and white buttons on the face as well as on the front as the picture suggests.

That wouldn't be too bad.. cos then you could remap the controls in-game so that the top white/black => L1/R1 ..and the L/R Trigger => L2/R2 .... hence have a setup like a ps2 controller.

As for the analog stick on the xbox control, I'm starting to find it quite comforable after 10 odd months of playing other games with it.

I did buy a X JoyBox ps2 controller converter though.. and while I don't see too many probs with it so far, except the headset don't really work with it.. any other opinions on it from others who have it?

That does look like a nice option if you want to use an XBOX pad. But, you'd have to buy it and for the same price you could get a dreambox and just use a PS2 pad. It will never be the same as a good 'ol Dual Shock.

I've read lots of opinions about the different converters, but they all say different things.
All i want is a converter to use my PS2 pad on my xbox, i'm not bothered about using LIVE or the mic at the moment, so will this one .....

I haven't tried that one, but from what I've read it's a load of blag. Stay away. Get the 'Dreambox'.

I have that one! and IT SUCKS! huuge lag! Major LAG! and sometimes dont work! so u have to unpllug and plug in!!

I do not have a PS2 and therefore I'm also not used to the DualShock, so I might just as well take such an Xbox Controller instead of a converter... I really like the small Xbox Controller by Microsoft, but the black and white button should really be there as triggers.

Anyone tried this pad yet? Is it any good in quality? Same shape as standard Xbox controller?

I have ordered two of these pads, when they´ll arrive I´ll put here some words.

There is a review in IGN saying that they are good controllers, near to XBOX controllers

Its not that bad to use once you get used to it , i only really had trouble with the super cancel but i can pull that off easily now :) .

But i can't use the big Joypad , only the small :(

A similar solution thread was going on over at www.ntsc-uk.com to find a decent pad for 2D fighters but most people have said the Dreambox lags like crazy online in Capcom VS SNK2. Perhaps its game specific or there is minimal lag but its not so much of an issue with PES4 given the timing accuracy you need with a 2D fighter.

So in short, have you guys actually used this Dreambox adaptor with PES4 online? Or just offline...? The reason I ask is because the lag only raises its ugly head online... it basically lags in between button presses.

The MagicBox apparently does not have this problem but the headset does not work with it.

Hmm any more input on this from anyone would be great as I got Live this week and I dont wanna go out and buy a stack of Dreambox for me and a mate of mine if this is gonna be the case ............. but I am well aware that no one can actually test PES4 online yet :( But you guys on here are playing Burnout 3 and others on Live with no Lag, Yes ?

Erm I would suggest that all the guys with the Dreambox and Live! test out as many games as Possible on Live and let us all know if there is any shred of truth to the findings detailed above ?

Thing is sometimes it comes down to the game, some games just don't like certain converters while others have no problems. I'm definitely going to wait and try the XBox pad with it, I've been told by a few folk who have the beta that after a little while playing with it the XBox pad is fine, and also by that time folk will have tried the Dreambox converter using the retail version on Live and can give more info.

I think its all in the title, Pro Evolution Soccer, I think we all have to EVOLVE and get used to the Xbox pad. I dont think it will be really that bad, I had WE6:FE on Cube, and that pad worked really well, I had no problems whatsoever, and it really was a joy to play.

Hmm... I've been reading this thread for a while and I think I will see what it is like with the normal X-Box Controller S, then if it is difficult/awkward then I will definately get a PS2 Pad converter.

i seem to be experiencing some lag with it...
its not much of the dpad or analog, but the action buttons...

and why do i hav to REALLY hit the buttons for them to respond..?
i know they are pressure sensitive, but i never needed to hit them when i play on the ps2

I have two Dreamboxes.

When I first put player two's dreambox and dual shock in on PES, the controller would not move on the controller selector screen, i.e. it was not being recognised. On checking the PS2 pad it was slightly out of the dreambox - once fixed in properly, it was perfect. Some of your problems could be because of a loose connection? Maybe? Jjust trying to help.

Yes i had this Problem but then i realised the controller had come loose a little!!!

It's a great piece of kit, but the looseness can cause a few problems - especially if you're unaware of it. Just bluetac it in if your a frantic gamer.

Just tried the "Dreambox" with several other Xbox Games, (World Championship Snooker 2004 and StreetFighter™ Anniversary Edition, for some unknown reason i kept getting a constant Rumble on my PS2 Pad using the Convertor.

Could the other people who have the "Dreambox" in this thread let me know if there experiencing the same with either those 2 games (If you have 'em) or any other games i have failed to try it out with! It works with no side affects on the other games i have tried it with, mainly PGR 2, Burnout 3, Outrun 2 and a few other's i think. No matter what i did on Streetfighter i could'nt get the rumble to stop?

So, to stop this, since i have 2 PS2 Controller's anyway, i have opened one of 'em up and have just done a simple thing, which is disconect the 2 wire's on each of the 2 rumble's which are either side of the handles on the controller which connect to the PCB board!!!! It worked a treat and was really easy to do, but obviously i would only recommend it if you don't plan on using the rumble feature on your controller!!!!!! and it is best if you have a backup controller. Having said that though, it would be quite easy to re-solder them at a later date!!!!!!

If PES 4 goes the same way as Streetfighter Anniversary Edition and World Championship Snooker 2004 then we might not have any choice but to disconnect the Rumble, But i think it will be OK! We'll Just Have To Wait And See!!! Although, some peeps have said they have tried it with the beta version and it works fine?

Got yesterday 2 "dreambox".
My opinion is that they're good with the DualShock for PS1 but with Dualshock for PS2 you have REALLY to hit the buttons..too much! I think because they're pressure sensitive.
Are u using DS1 or DS2 KOP_007?

Yeah, That Is Weird?, but i'd rather have it that way around instead of not being able to put the Analog on at all? The Analog is quite a big part of the Game!

Stumbled accross a little thing while using my dreambox converter and PS2 pad...

When doing in game strategies, I am only able to execute the strategies for buttons A and Y (as they would appear on xbox controller). If I try for B and X nothing happens....Has anyone else noticed this?

Reason I'm concerned is because I have a feeling startegies will play an important part while playing LIVE, so I'd like to be able to use all 4 possible options rather than just the 2 I can at the moment.

I have a pelican controller with extra shoulder buttons and have noticed the same thing, namely that I can only do the 2 strategies (which correspond to the x and Triangle on the PS2 controller). I can't find any other threads on it. Any one else have these problems?

It might work but I wouldn't try it as the convertor adds a bit of response delay as it is. Wouldn't like to try it using wireless ones!
