those screen may not look extremely maxed out uber leet or anything but it sure makes me wanna grab up a controller and play it. player/field proportions and grass texures are great.

kinda suprising this, out of nothing the anwser from NAMCO on WE. lets hope the competition is going to be inspiring for the developers. id rather have a fight over the best gameplay then a Fifa/WE battle over best graphics.

I've got to admit I wasn't impressed at all; it's by Namco so it'll be an arcade game and nothing more, plus it looks like it'll only have a handful of International teams and nothing else, but then I saw this...

Namco usually makes good games and being a jap company like konami i bet the game will be very simmilar to WE. Anyway it's always good to have more competition against konami. I'm just tired of playing WE and it not fun like it was before any more. The graphics are slightly different but i don't think they are supperior to WE, just some different textures and colors...looking forward to see more details on this one

no matter how it looks like, the gameplay counts
all WE series had this, I still play WE2002 on emulator on my PC, it beats all FIFA series in almost every aspect, especially gameplay

on second screen is a free kick with second man trying to score, wow, just like in one of PES4 fake screens ;-)
and we don't know about animations of their moves, maybe its better than WE (:crossed fingers:)

. . but then again, i remember when the Madden franchise suffered a short-term beatdown on the new PS1 when Sony released NFL Gameday. I hope, for our sake, that it is a serious contender. Anything to push the WE series forward is a good thing to me.

You never know, maybe they have been sitting in the shadows quietly reading through all forums like this one to find out what people really want.

Since they are a japenese company aswell they are sure to know that it is gameplay that counts and that konami lead the way with this.

Hopefully they rip off we gameplay/controls and add the little touches that people on here are always asking for.

One thing I haven't liked already are the cartoonish graphics on the player models. And the fact that the goal nets are not visible from a far. All the screens show the nets too transparent without any solidness to them as in WE.

Another thing is how you have arrows pointing to goal on free kicks and corners. I hate this, it reminds me of Fifa.

Anyway, I wonder about the gameplay???

I changed my media player to buffer for 30 secs, did the trick. Looks not bad, at times like WE but other times a tad arcadish. Why is it called 'Trial Edition'?

A great looking trailer... really love the crowd support at the proper times... . Crowd roars on goals, through balls that set up 1 v. 1, and on long passes... very nice.

Sound is something I think Konami overlooks, I wish they'd put more emphasis on it once again a la ISS64 on N64.

The game looks AMAZING!

I am definately getting a copy..

From studying the game movie, I didn't see any field ref's or linesman. Also, I saw only a few players on the benches. Didn't resemble field players. And I counted 10 stadiums. All which look fantastic.

Everything from the one two's, long balls, through balls, volleys, headers, run animations, to how flawlessly and realistically the nets animate when the ball hits them, the game just looks like a real contender. I am already falling in love with just the trailer. I really hope it plays great.

Finally, it looks like somebody got the nets animation correct.

The graphics don't look that bad either, along with the boots on Ronaldo.

It looks just like a WE game in my opinion. Very similar...

So far it's Japan-only. It's been described in one news piece as one of the most realistic football games yet, but whether that's from the magazine or from Namco is unknown.

This game is going to be off the hook.

From the trailer, it looks like it's going to play a lot like the ISS on N64 which in my opinion were the best games ever released.

The net physics are amazing! Anyone see this ball bouncing out of the goal like it got kicked in the ass?

The animations look awesome. Those goals by Brazil. One was voley, the other one a strange header. Haven't seen anything like this before.

Yeah, the game might be a bit more arcadey but who said they ain't fun!?!?!? except for fifa that is.

You sound just as excited as I am waiting for this game. The net physics look fantastic don't they?

Notice the long aerial ball animations in the trailer. And the through ball animation as well...very realistic looking.

Also, the life like grass textures. Another thing that caught my attention was how realistic the wingers looked when they were sent on a run down the flanks. As they took off running, they resembled Roberto Carlos exactly as he does it on real matches.

It looks like this game has a lot of the important little things that WE games have been missing for years. Remember, it is this little things that add so much more to realism together with a great gameplay engine.

One thing I've noticed about the graphics is that the players look a less blocky than in WE. The game also seems a lot more colorful and the motion capture (one feature that WE is missing) is amazing. The grass is a lot better than in WE, too.

About the gameplay. Seems like all kinds of passes and stuff can be controlled. Good.

The goals (nets and string that support them, etc.) too look super cool.

the thing that impressed me the most was the crossing by the wingers...looked very realistic...nice curl on the crosses.
The nets are also superb, the best i've seen so far.

Oh God, I had totally forgotten about the head aches I will get with the menu japanese texts for this game.

And hey Jumbo, I agree with the nice colorful bright graphics on this game. They look very sharp and sweet. If you don't beleive me, just look at my avatar. The player models look good as well.

Yes, Namco is known for arcadey games. But I'm sure this time around they are serious about simulation with a little touch of arcadey, which wouldn't be too bad in my opinion.

Besides, all WE games seemed a bit arcadey to me anyway. In my opinion based on the movie clip, this game resembles more realism than WE has to this point solely based on player animation and looks since we still don't know anything about the gameplay.

The only thing gimmicky and arcadey about the "free-run" and "free-pass" that I see are the little arrows on top of the players before they make the runs. I hope you can turn this off. If not, I really wouldn't mind, considering the gameplay is good. Other than that, everything else looks superb.

Oh, and LOL Yes, Jumbo and Me are probably the most excited about this game thus far. :D

I just wish there would be more movies and screenshots on this game every week. I am dying to see at least one movie between Brazil and Germany showing the game in motion. And showing a celebration after a goal.

I hope the game is really worth it. The nets physics looked so flawlessly real as the ball made contact. And the player animation(runs etc..) looked very real as well. Ball physics also looked very nice. One thing I also notice in the video was how the player pushed the ball forward and followed with a burst of speed. It was the little things that made this game so enticing and intriguing. I am trying very hard not to keep my hopes up too high.

I'm also excited about WE8 which has been confirmed for Aug 5th. With referees on the pitch and more licensed teams, along with tweaked gameplay. I am highly excited!!!

I just hope WE8 doesn't forget to make the net physics as real as they look on Football Kingdom. Football Kingdom will be worth it I'm sure. The game looks so tasty.

And hey JUMBO, what are we going to do about the translation for this game??? imagine how difficult it will be to navigate through the menus. :shock:

first of all i must admit, i have stopped playing we7i for quite a time now and after looking at the screenshots of Football Kingdom i think i am very excited about it. one little remark i dont like the player textures (faces etc.) i dont think they look as realistic as we7i...

True, it could go either way. The game could be good or bad. However, based on the italian forum posts I read, someone has already played a demo version of it and claims it to be great.

I don't think the game looks strikingly similar to WE for nothing.

I still don't blame you for being so skeptical though. Considering how bad the list of game makers you provided turned out to be regarding futbol games.

That is one nice looking net physics for an old model game. You would think that the japs at NOKAMI would have gotten with the program by now to include realistic net physics in WE games. I still feel that this is lacking.

I myself see NAMCO capitalizing on all the little important ingredients in Football Kingdom that NOKAMI haven't thus far.

Imagine putting one over the wall in the final minutes of the match and seeing the ball sail gracefully and swiftly slamming into the upper corner of the net with rippleing effect...... ;)

Just to think of how beautiful the net would animate makes me salivate.

I have been a striker all my life as a soccer player. And one thing that all of us strikers have in common, is that we busted our tails on the field running for one reason only. To put one in the net and seeing how beautifully the nets rippled after a goal. Those are the memories that stay with you for a long time.

Sure I'll post and so my mates as soon as we get new infos !
We asked the guy wo claims having played the demo to post some screens, and another user asked him if he was okay to sell his first demo version (Apparently he receveid a second version - To tell you the truth, I have some doubt about his comments...) and send it to another user.
Anyway the game is out in 2 weeks, so in the next few days we should have some preview or review to look at !

Good spot, I had to go over it 100 times to actually find RO & NA, my eyes were being tricked reading through a page full of symbols.

Again, I don't know why these japs don't give more information on their games. NOKAMI does the same with WE games. I don't know what the deal is. All they need to do is update their website every once in a while with new information, pics, movies, etc... But they seem to be sitting on their assess not doing anything about it.

Probably a stack of info in magazines, etc, but although WE sells by the bucketload, football or 'soccer' isn't the no.1 sport in Japan. WE does get plenty of coverage from other sources in lead up to release, there's not as much hype over this one because it's the first in the series.

The game release on Thursday.

Last year I ordered WE7 from www.play-asia.com and paid for 2 express or whichever was the best - $25 (!). Received the game on the next day - April 5, 2004, I believe.

If I do the same with this one, I should have it on the 28th which is Firday. Perfect!

Now I just need to get a server and I'll be hosting vidoes. :D

My pre-mod will be here on Monday (17th). Cool. :D

The only thing that sucks is that this game is going to be on CD... I thought we were done with this shit. I hate playing CD games...

I thought the same at first, however, It could be fun. If you look at the pic, notice that it is where you kick the ball that gives it the effect. I beleive this will be interesting to pull off and score some goals. I'm sure it will be rewarding if you get it right in the game.

Here, I'll tell you why it's cheaper.

Because, the modchip that I got costs around $60. It's DMS3. The best one you can get.

What this other site sells, is a PS2 modified with Neo 12. A $15 chip.

Let me explain the main difference between the two:

+ DMS3 allows you to play MP3, AVI an DIVX on your system. Neo doesn't.
+ DMS3 allows you to use the HDD (the original one as well as 3rd party) with your ps2. Neo doesn't.
+ DMS3 is flash upgradable. Meaning if SONY comes up with another protection, you'll DMS3 simply flash your chip and it'll work. Neo doesn't have this feature.
+ DMS3 lets you play your backups online. Neo doesn't.
+ DMS3 has the sleep mode (which lets you turn the chip off when you want to play your originals online), I doubt Neo has it. Didn't see it anywhere.

There's Japanese AND English text, the majority of it is Japanese though - there is NO all-English option and I'm 99% sure of that.

Bear in mind the menus on Winning Eleven 7 etc. (Match Mode, League Mode etc.) are in English, a lot of stuff is, but the bits you select in options (match length, formation stuff etc.) and the player names are all Japanese.

Don't worry, I will be sure to post a mini review of the game as soon as I play it.

Even if the game is not that great, I am still going to enjoy scoring on those nets.. ;)

However, something deep down inside tells me that this game will be fun and enjoyable.

simple answer: this game isnt that good how it looks, so people will buy it without to see the reviews.
namco doesnt send material to magazines etc

it looks not bad but im of the opinion that this game will be similar to iss for ps2.
so, what makes you sure that this game will be good? ;)
we have to wait but i think after 3 or 4 matches its enough

I'm very doubtful that this will fulfill expectations. The actual game footage (at normal speed) looks far too quick and unnatural to me. I'm really hoping it will be great, but don't want to be disappointed.

Ernestito: Well, if that's just your opinion and not fact. Then your opinion is well taken.

I on the other hand, am not sure. I just have a gut feeling that the game will be at least fun to play. A person by the name of "Raffaels" over at the WEgrinta italian forums claimed to have played a demo copy of the game and said it was very similar to WE and that it played great.

I am just crossing my fingers that it will be worth it. The speed of the game really doesn't bother me at all.

ISS 64, 98 (N64) = BEST ARCADE GAMES EVER.
